Some think it's a personal preference, especially those who are vegan for the health benefits.

Many people who are vegan for animal-related reasons do think that it's wrong. The reasoning goes something like this: http://ar.vegnews.org/cat_analogy.html

I'm all for personal choice except when those choices force others to feel pain and suffering. Child abuse is not a "personal preference". Rape is not a "personal choice". Animals feel pain too, so I hope someday, causing animals to suffer for our entertainment or pleasure will be seen in the same light.

I'm curious, have you seen this video: http://www.chooseveg.com/animal-cruelty.asp and what do you think of it? Do you think it's wrong to treat animals inhumanely? Thanks.

To be honest I do think it's wrong for anyone to eat meat but I am not going to try and force someone to change. I understand that society has conditioned people into a meat eating diet and I don't interfere but if someone has questions I answer them honestly. I think it would be best for peoples health, the economy, and the environment if people became vegetarian.

Do feminists think that it is wrong for anyone to rape women, or is it just a personal choice?
That sounds inflammatory, but it is my answer. I think it is completely wrong to rape women, and I think it is also wrong to kill animals.
However, I'm one person. The other answerers are right; you will get a lot of different opinions on this one. Some vegans could care less about animal rights.

In all honesty, I don't know why vegans (in general, not individual cases) are stereotyped as preachy.

I find more meat eaters spewing the "oh get off your soapbox and eat a steak" rhetoric than anything.

That pretty much depends on whether someone is vegan for dietary reasons or for ethical reasons.

I'm not vegan..I'm vegetarian and I think it's wrong to kill and eat animals but my being a vegatarian is a personal choice too. It's not only wrong for me to support killing, it's wrong for everyone.

It depends on the individual. You have your PETA and ALF types, and then you have your nice level headed vegans and veggies. It's a strange dichotomy.

The reverse of this question: Do meat eaters think its wrong for anyone to be a vegetarian or is it a personal opinion?

i would think if you get a bunch of vegans together in a room, they would have all sorts of opinions on your question.

I think it's just a personal preference. It's a chosen lifestyle.
