The lady gave an estimate of the hours it will take to plan the event I thought it was less than that to just plan? Is this the norm or is it over inflated? She says that this is her rate for weddings and parties.We are in Ann Arbor,MI I just wanted to know...

Just to plan that may be a bit much... however depends on the type of event. I know of an excellent wedding planner... who's been in the business 20yrs. and charges a little less for weddings... and I am event planner and more reasonably priced.

I believe that is probably a fair rate. You are paying the woman to handle everything for your party. A perfectly planned party involves more than you can imagine. If you don't believe her rate is fair, do some comparison shopping.

No, that's about right. Be thankful you don't live over here (the Greater L.A. Area) - $55 would be a bargain!

It's not out of line if she only works a few hours... she has to make a living too.

yes it sounds like to much for a party, but not too much for a wedding.
