That vegetarians/vegans are allowed to have slogans like "meat is murder" and to pretty much harass the living crap out of anyone who eats meat, but everyone is required to provide "vegetarian alternatives" and reprimanded for touting the vegetarian lifestyle?

I'm not trying to insult anyone here. Most of you guys are pretty cool, I'd just like your thoughts on this, and to amuse myself with the tons of not so good answers I'm sure I'll get :)

dI think if the cavemen would of eaten only veggies then we would not of had this conversation today b/c it takes protein to make the mind grow stronger, just ask an ape if can ask question on Yahoo answers and listen to his answer. And for any vegans who would like to say that they are smarter than me , well you maybe, but you can thank your meat eating ancestor's for that

I guess some people feel very passionate about not eating meat. I am just becoming a vegetarian and I am glad to be educating myself on the subject. The difference is the perspective used to view meat eating. Non-Vegetarians feel that meat is a healthy life-giving food and vegetarians view it as eating the flesh of a dead animal that suffered, and is not needed to nourish us when plant life can provide this for people.

Just curious... How many of the answers in cooking and recipes, which is in the same category by the way, have you seen vegetarian comments bashing anyone who is asking for a recipe for a meat dish? none? We are not bashing anyone, simply put, there is little reason to apply a filter over our mouths to a "meat eater" who choses to express and try to sway our opinions by telling us we are "unhealthy and wrong" in a category labeled "vegan and vegetarian." It is not that we care what meat eaters eat to a point that we seek them out elsewhere, we just don't tolerate nonsense here. They have come to us for this, and I might add, know what responses they will get when they write idiotic things just to get under our skin. Am I making any sense? Here is an analogy. I don't go off my porch to another's house to run my mouth to them about their lifestyle, but I'll be da*ned if I am going to allow some one to come on my porch and tell me about mine.

Allowed to have slogans? It's called free speech. I dont know any vegetarians that harass any meat eaters. Last time I checked, nobody is required to provide vegetarian alternatives.

Well, I think the "meat is murder" slogan is not necessarily over the top, but I don't personally use it or say it to anyone. No one is "allowed" to harass anyone. Anyone who is being harassed who feels they have a valid argument back at the harassing veg ought to argue back. You do have an argument, right? We hear it here so much. Or tell them to leave you alone, which is what I do to people who harass me, if I don't argue with them.

And secondly, WHO provides veg alternatives? I'd really like to know. Families? My mom is vegan, but my boyfriend's mom does it not only for me, but for their health. I would never ask anyone to prepare a vegan meal for me, I would much rather provide it myself than put that on someone else.

I never encounter people like you in the real world.

You misused the word "touting" to opposite effect, by the way.

My answer is that no one is "allowed" to harass anyone. If a vegan gives you crap for eating meat, tell him/her where to go and enjoy your carcass. Likewise, you shouldn't come on here posting questions deliberately designed to harass.

And no one is required to provide vegetarian alternatives. Many places don't, but the ones that do, do it because they want our business, nothing else.

I think hard core vegetarians/vegans are funny.
I have been a vegetarian for over 4 years. My Boyfriend eats meat and I have no issue with it, I even cook it for him. Being vegetarian in my choice. I dont force my choice on others as people can make up their own mind.

Eating other animals is an act of nature and just because I disagree with it doesnt mean others should aswell and I agree some people do take it a little to far and try to force there opinions on others.
: )
But vegeterian alternatives are just as yummy!

.. not all of us harass people who don't choose to live our lifestyle. they ought to have veg*n alternatives because that diet is getting more popular. a omnivore can get a non meat dish and be fine, but it can't go the other way. and though you say that you do not mean for this to be taken out of context, it sounds rude and you start if off by generalizing. you may want to word your questions better.
