My father has diabetes and regurely checks his blood suger level. Though yesterday i was just courious of mine so i asked my dad if i could check it and i did and the level was 222! My dad told me that anything over 150 for my age was not normal, so should i get this checked out by the doctor or is can this just happen and is not a problem?

Regardless of what you ate when, a person without diabetes should never be that hi.
Please go see a pediatric endocrinologist asap.

Good luck.

High sugar levels do damage to the body over time. There are alot of things that could affect your sugar levels, like did you eat prior to the test, or drink. Not necessarily sugar either other things affect it also. Your doc. can run test to see if this has been along time thing or just a fluke. Get it checked out. They just give you some nasty stuff to drink, to see how your body deals with it and a couple of pokes. Piece of cake.

Wait a minute...the right time to check your blood is two hours after each meal...your father should know that. If you checked your blood shortly after eating food then that would explain why it might be high. Either way, you need to be tested because of your family history of diabetes. Make an appointment and they will take some blood samples. Good luck.

it really depends on alot of factors. if you woke up with this number, and had not eaten then yes go to the md. if howver u were eating there is no way to tell from this number. you can do a 2 hour post prandial test, that is, eat a meal. two hours after the start of your meal take your bloos sugar. it should be below 140, which means your body is making enof insulin. again if its hi, an eval is in order.goodluck;)michele

anything over 100 in your age has to be checked out
do not start any medication now but has to control sugar and need a lot of exersice, less meat more veg
drink a lot of water

That depends on when you did it. Had you already eaten that day? What you need to do is check your blood sugar when you have been fasting, like first thing in the morning before you have eaten anything. That reading should be less than 100.

That's way too high, my friend. Normal blood sugar doesn't usually swing that high. You've got to go to the doctor.
