I am no doctor but i do have experience in this department. Try eating something every 3 hours taking small meals. You wont feel the need to over eat then. Also, if your sugar level is high then consult your doctor and ask him about different ways you can curb your weight. Never Never Never starve yourself.

I too am diabetic and once weighed over 400 lbs, so I know what you are going through. The answer for me was really simple, though the execution was a little challenging. I did two things-I cut back on carbs and spread out my meals, and I started exercising.
Now, these were small changes. I'm a big eater and I enjoy a lot of food, so portion size for me hasn't changed too much. I just try to eat smarter. I look for foods with a lower glycemic index (lots of great books on the subject). I still have treats, but I look for things with a lower carb count and a lower GI. If I want something and I'm craving it, I eat it. It must satisfy some part of me and if I deny it then the craving just grows. And if I satisfy a guilty craving, I do not beat myself up about it.
Secondly, I recently moved to an apartment where I MUST walk my dog (she roamed the yard at my old reidence). Therefore, I have no excuse to not get out and walk. My new apartment also has a fitness facility, and I go there from time to time and walk on the treadmill and lift weights. Its really casual, and if I don't go for awhile I don't beat myself up about it.
All told, in the past 9 months I've dropped from 402 lbs to under 350, and my blood sugar is in a much more manageable range of 110-120, with some highs of 160+ and lows in the 90's.
Once you become adjusted to just LITTLE changes in diet and exercise, and you start to see results, then you can decide if you need to make further small changes. The key is to make the changes small enough that your enjoyment of life is not diminished to the point that you give up and start yo-yoing again.

Do you exercise regularly? Even if you just go for long walks, it will help with your blood sugar and with losing weight. When you are walking, periodically sprint for a short while and then go back to walking. By dramatically changing your level of exertion your body will lose more weight than if your gradually increase and decrease your exertion level. In short, you will lose more weight that way.

if you are compliant with diet and medication then it's better to see your dr maybe you need adjustment of medications/ medication dose and ask for referral to a good dietician .
exercise is a good way to control blood sugar esp if you are following dr's orders so why not go walk every day starting today. always keep fruit juice close by when exercising just in case and eat regular meals don't skip meals or start a diet without you dr's knowledge..

First off, starving yourself will make your body use energy from your fat and you can go into keto-acidosis (not fun, trust me)! Second, you have to keep testing your blood sugar before and 2 hours after meals. Good luck! Speak to your doctor immediately!

stay away from potatoes, white rice, white breads, pastas...etc...if you haven't done so already. Usually when I eat those types of foods my blood sugar is very high....if you've been having problems for a while, it might be your diabetic medication...go see your doctor and let him know your symptoms.
