In terms of diabetes, honey and sugar are equivalent.

Even though you are diabetic, it's okay to have sugar once in awhile. I wouldn't over do it though. You should try a sugar substitute, but stay away from splenda. It's made from sugar and it will still raise your blood sugar.

If you aren't eating a lot of other carbs or sweets than what you are doing is fine. Honey is the same as sugar so it wouldn't make much of a difference. Just monitor your blood sugar and if it's not high, you're alright. The sugar is not helping your diet any though.

A little experiment for you

If you have 4 cups of tea a day with 3 sugars (or how many/how much) that is 12 teaspoonfuls of sugar a day. Place these 12 on scales. Do this 7 times-equivalent to 1 week-standby for shock. at calories consumed

best to use none or sweetener if you must

Honey is the best option. Unlike table sugar, it is natural and more healthy, Also, it is made of frustose which is easier to digest than sucrose (component of table sugar). If you're dieting, avoid taking sugar (whether as ingredients or in any form) as much as possible. You can use artificial sweeteners like aspartame (under brand names like EQUAL) or sucralose (under the brand name of SPLENDA). (I prefer sucralose coz its four times sweeter and is safer than aspartame). You can also try Muscovado sugar from the Philippines. It's just like table sugar but it's a natural and healthy kind of sugar.

First, if you're a diabetic, you've got to count carbohydrates and read labels. Second, the tannic acid in a good cup of tea does more damage to your liver than a shot of booze. Third, and this might be most important, increase your water intake. Not tea, not coffee, not soda, but plain ol' H2O. Not in place of, not instead of, but in addition to any other liquids.

Honey is by far better than sugar, but... Have you thought about Splenda? I personally love it and being diabetic I need to watch my sugar intake.

Honey is always better in tea I think... I would try to cut out sugar in your diet unless your eating something that is natually sweet like and apple, bananna, orange... but try to cut out artificial sugars.....Good luck!

honey does not have too much advantage over sugar, besides being much more expensive.if you are on a diet, you need to decrease the amount of sugar you consume.
