Meh, the god of the old testament reminds me of the kid in the twilight zone movies. The one with the powers and he removes that girls mouth. Ya... an immature spoiled rotten brat with the power to destroy.

Hey . . . God don't fool around! He's one bad em eff.

Machismo is best modeled after the God of the Old Testament.

Actually, come to think of it, he's prone to failure when it comes to making mankind obedient. He's had at least 4 major failures:

1.) Had to kick Adam and Eve out of Eden because of that diabolical snake.

2.) The rejects of Eden then populated the world and, surprise, surprise, humanity was not up to God's standards. So he wiped out everybody with a flood -- except for Noah's immediate family.

3.) Now, with "good" seed, from Noah, the world was repopulated again. But alas, humanity was no better than before. God's "chosen people" were in bondage in Egypt. God performed miracle after incredible miracle to lead them out of bondage and into the land of milk and honey. His chosen people thanked him by worshiping a gold calf. God gave his chosen people the law (ten commandments) so that there'd be no confusion over what God wants.

4.) But even with written instructions, humanity just continued its slide into perdition. God, getting a little frustrated, came to Earth, via the virgin Mary, as the person of Jesus. His mission: save his beloved creatures from sin. He followed his own script (prophesy of scripture) which lead to his death. He resurrected himself and ascended back to heaven. God somehow felt this would change things here on Earth.

I wonder what he'll try next?

Imagine sitting in your house and a whole group of bad people came through your front door and started wrecking the place. What would you do as the owner?
Would you help your family or just let them get run over and hurt?
God told his people to fight for the world in order to create a peaceful place for them to live.
I know that his motives are confusing and people like you like to point them out to confuse others because you don't understand yourself but try to remember that the time in which all these things took place was a different time. A time of no laws except Gods laws.
This was a time when you were either a believe or not.

Don't know what you mean by "no space to carry on," but this same God love you so much He sent His Son to die for your sins so that these atrocities could stop. There is a price for sin: death. Period. Jesus paid that price for you, and by doing so put into place a Law governed by Grace and not strict adherence to an unfulfillable standard. Yeah, that sound like something wicked to me. Doesn't it? I mean, loving someone enough to provide a way for them to not have to suffer the penalty of sin? Horrible!

he's the wicked one for protecting his children? God is not the wicked one. the bible does stress the fact that he will protect his ppl. the bible also ask "who can stand the wrath of God?" how long can you do wrong without facing the consequences behind it. even on earth when you do wrong it catches up with you and depending on what was done you can get death row. God is not to be mocked you will reap what you sow.

Do you think honesty is not an admirable trait? Do you think that we should make idle threats? Do we back out of punishing our own children just because it's mean?

God constantly warned the Israelites, and the rest of the world, that if they didn't get their poop together, He was gonna come down with a whippin' stick and a mean backhand. God gave them plenty of warning; He was merely keeping His word.

Not the god of the bible, the god of the o.t. Not related to the God of Jesus. Jesus clears up the confusion nicely in The Apocryphon of John. Think, believe Jesus, not Moses.

"Wicked" as in "cool" like the people in Boston say? Or just plain ol' "wicked" as in the mass-killing and indiscriminate slaughter of weaker people than yourself is "wicked"?

So if you mean "cool", then yes, sometimes. Like when he forgives sins, or befriends you like he did with Abraham.

And if you mean "evil", then yes, sometimes. Like when he asks you to kill everyone in an entire city or when he left the first humans with no choice but to inbreed. (Adam, Eve gave us Cain and Abel but what happened after that? I for one don't want to know.)

But I don't know if we humans are allowed to judge God. At least I wouldn't feel comfortable judging him.

If they had obeyed after being warned, none of this would have happened.
You speed, you get fined.
You kill, you get jail,
What they did against God must have been bad, because those killed by Jehovah God are not resurrected.

Where do you get some of what you're thinking?
At least you recognize God is in the Bible.
