…or just a slap or two and a good old fashioned shake?

Geology shows that fossils are of different ages.

Paleontology shows a fossil sequence, the list of species represents changes through time.

Taxonomy shows biological relationships among species.

Evolution is the explanation that threads it all together.

Creationism is the practice of squeezing one's eyes shut and wailing "Does not!"

Probably not, but I've come to realize lately that not believing that evolution is real is not a prerequisite to being a decent human being. I just don't want the "anti" people teaching in schools. I'm sure they are sincere in what they believe so that doesn't make them liars (as that requires active deception) but that also doesn't mean that they are right. Once someone truly understands how DNA works, evolution becomes obvious. Unfortunately, not a lot of people know how DNA works, so "evolutionophobia" will persist for a while.

To "Heather" above: look up the word "Theory" in a scientific context and you will find that your definition is a misuse of the word. There is a "Theory of gravity" and a "Theory of atomic structure", etc. The word means a "very well established scientific position" - so "just a theory" will not work here because you are using the "common" usage of the word and not the SCIENTIFIC usage of the word.

Is that a real phobia? I never heard of it before.

Really, though - have you ever met someone with an overpowering and irrational fear of evolution? That would be an interesting person to observe.

Oh, I get it. You're making a silly. Are you a Godophobe? You're clearly not a jokephobe.

Lol....Well, maybe you could get a therapist, scientist, or doctor to explain evolution to you and tell you that you won't experience much of it, and that could help. Hypnotherapy has worked for some - I believe it only will work if you believe it'll work, so if you think hypnotherapy will help, try it. As for drugs, you'll have to consult your therapist/doctor about that, I really have no license to tell you.

I believe what people call evolution is God's way of creating. I don't believe He twitched His nose like "Bewitched."

It can't be cured, unfortunately. It requires a part of the brain that theists lack, freethinking and will. Oh well, I can just be satisfied with knowing I figured the great mystery out.

Do you think it possible that one day people will learn to respect others, even if they do not agree with your opinions or beliefs?

We live in hope...I keep hoping that one of them will actually pick up a plain unbiased science book. Or any book at all, for that matter.

what in the devil is evolutionophobia?? who is afraid of evolution? not believing in something and being afraid of it are completely far apart from one another. You know, it hasn't been proved, that is why it is called "The THEORY of Evolution"
