The issue of global worming is really taking over. The scientists are really trying hard to convince people that it’s true & happening, wake up now or face the consequences. We are also running out of fossil fuels. Well if so is the situation how come we are still building monster SUVs just built to drink more patrol & pollute, how come Boeing is set on making bigger planes such as A380s which I happened to know from NGC that it sucks up almost a liter of gasoline per second. So, if we will for sure run out of fossil fuels, why make such things? Is this happening for real or is just a conspiracy?

It's a little bit of both. The correct term is climate change, and no that isn't the correct term because of republican semantics, it is more accurate to call it climate change becuase we may be warming now, but certain factors such as the thermohaline conveyor could cause a cooling in the future. We now know that not only is the climate changing but it has always changed throughout history and during the Medieval Climate Optimum, the time in which the Vikings settled in Greenland, the climate was a bit warmer than it is now. Shortly after this optimum, something happened to suddenly throw the climate into a "little ice age," a drop in climate of about 5 degrees. It is speculated that we may be due for a drop in climate soon, especially if the thermohaline conveyor theory about the little ice age is correct. Check out the report done for the pentagon by Schwartz and Randall (you can read it online for free...google search).

And we are running out of fossil fuels. The reason we keep building SUVs and bigger jets is becuase there is an economic demand for these items and many consumers are either uneducated as to their ill effects or they just don't care.

Well that's part of the insanity that is humanity, we have global warming, but we only want to do something about it if it's profitable or it doesn't lessen my ego which is a large part of the SUV thing. We say our land fills are filling up at an alarming rate but then we buy everything from China that, in some instances breaks almost as soon as we use it, and in other cases lasts not all that much longer. I have my "American" made jeans that I've had for 5 years and are wearing great, I bought a pair made in China on the internet, I washed them twice and they fell apart. and they cost the same as the American made jeans. Somebody please
tell me where these supposed savings are!!!, but we just keep running out to Wal-Mart and wherever and buying them.
I have found American jean and clothes manufacturer and I will be doing business with them from now on, and the prices are basically the same as the crap from China. The new Boeing planes are supposed to be 30% more fuel efficient so
at least that's something. So until we get our heads out of our butts we really aren't going to help things that much and if you just try a little and be a little aware we can make a much bigger impact.

First, Boeing isn't making the A380, Airbus is. Boeing is making the 787, which uses significantly less fuel than previous planes.

To the question, just because global warming is happening, doesn't mean people are going to change their lifestyles. Global warming has an event horizon of many years, most people will not make drastic changes until an event is more current and dramatic. Even though it is short sighted, that is human nature. And add the fact that there are still a few well funded contrarians making as much noise that global warming is a joke and people fell even less inclined to change.

Global "worming", as you put it, is a natural part of earths history, we may be aiding in the process this time, but we are not the cause or the solution. If mother nature had decided to move to another ice age, the scientists would be saying the greenhouse gasses were creating a blanket effect, blocking warming rays of the sun. To a scientist, being heard is funding, and funding pays the bills. We are a capitalistic society, meaning if we can make some money, to hell with everyone and everything else. Al Gore is unemployed, if he really cared, would he be flying around the world in his private jet, accepting money for giving speeches? Would he still be using 16 times more electricity at his home than the normal household? Would Greenpeace be storing their garbage for recycling while sailing around the oceans saving the whales instead of throwing it overboard? We, as a society, will never, together, act on this because they will not give up the lifestyle. If the government outlaws SUV's, families will travel in two vehicles instead of one so they can carry all their decadent "stuff". The USA is but a fraction of the world population, will China stop polluting, and loose their Wal-mart product contract? Will we stop going to Wal-mart to force it? We need to be more concerned with the fact that our government is so blind that thay are allowing people here in our country, that have sworn to destroy us, to infulltrate us daily, sceeming, waiting and perparing to attempt a takeover. The day, in the future, that they set off their dirty bombs, we'll wish global "worming" was our only problem.

This thing is out there, because we are going to experience very unusual things in the next few years, and I guess that our government needs to slow down emerging countries by forcing them to ''contribute'' economically to slow down something that can`t be stopped! So, yes we can say its a conspiracy in some ways. But I would be capable to tell you more about it in 5 years!! As for the fossil fuels, well Canada still has about 200 years of reserves, while Saudi Arabia as about 20 to 60MAX! As for the size of the car, again its to limite the developments of emerging countries! If we drink all the oils that come out of the wells, then those will not be capable to purchase it and develop their economy! Its why the oil price is sooo high now, so its much more expensive for those countries to functions than it is for ours, as we can afford the difference! I guess, its how we make ''friends'' all over the planet!!

It's not a conspiracy but as long as people will continue to buy SUVs and go by airplanes, the market will continue to produce more of them.

That's why it's so important that politicians make laws that makes it more beneficial to drive efficient cars or use other transportation than planes. I know it's not always a popular thing to do, because it will make the other alternatives more expensive, but as long as too many people only cares about their own (short term) benefits it's the only way to go.

As Bob points out, the danger is very real. Unfortunately, it is difficult to be exact about the extent of the danger---the most serious potential problem is positive natural feedback of greenhouse gasses (that is, warming releasing more greenhouse gasses, making it warmer still), and these processes are not well understood. If we continue to burn fossil fuels, the possible futures range from a slight, mostly beneficial warming to a dangerous, world-killing temperature increase.

By the way, =^_^= is wrong about the Mideval Warming period---it's been warmer in the past decade than it ever was then:

The only real solution is political action to force a change to renewable resources and nuclear power. This needs to be done, and the political problem is to figure out how to do it with minimal undesirable side effects. Obviously, installation of a world socialist dictatorship is not the way to go. In my opinion, a carbon tax could be used to optimize the needed changes. That tax could replace other taxes, resulting in no net tax increase---just an economic disincentive to produce the greenhouse gasses that may destroy us.

There have been natural changes before, of course. But that doesn't mean all climate changes have to be natural. The present warming is 80-90% man made.

I believe the scientists

http://www.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/full/306/5702/1686

and the scientific data which says it isn't natural:

The natural explanations don't work The numbers don't come out right:

http://environment.newscientist.com/channel/earth/dn11462

All of which is why (note the key word, quantitative):

"There's a better scientific consensus on this [climate change] than on any issue I know... Global warming is almost a no-brainer at this point. You really can't find intelligent, quantitative arguments to make it go away."

Dr. Jerry Mahlman, NOAA

It's going to take some time ( we don't have much) to reduce our use of fossil fuels. We may continue to need them for air travel (but not for cars).

U have got it all wrong. The fossil fuel is the best fuel as it will never run out. The plants that recycle our air also recycle our fossil fuels . The fossil fuel comes from fossil plants not animals.

Why make such things? Retards like us buy such things. Who cares about saving our home and our lives, as long as we have money! $$$$$$$
