are you serious? because i thought people stopped seriously asking this question centuries ago O_o

no, no, no! of all the theories of modern science to prove true that christians thought to be wrong, this is probably one of the easiest ones!

No. Because I've read up on the subject, and the research in gravity, cosmology, and other scientific fields all point to a heliocentric solar system.

I suppose you could call the earth the center and then try to reorientate everything so that everything is seen as moving around the earth some how (from a relative view), but speaking as a mathematician, it makes much more sense to place the sun at the center and describe the paths of planets as ellipses around the sun as a focus point. This gives us much more predictable results too.

If you're trying to go for the old argument of "Well you've never been to outer space, so you don't know", sorry but I don't buy that line of reasoning. The idea that the earth is at the center and that everybody, from physicists to teachers to astronomists, have been carefully lying about this for centuries, is infinitely more ridiculous of a claim.

No. They've measure and observed this for over a thousand years, and it's clear the Earth revolves around the sun, and the sun also is not the center of the galaxy. However, I'm skeptical of any measurements larger than this, simply because we're molecules in grains of sand compared to the galaxy, which is totally insignificant in the universe at large (if science can be at all believed).

I missed the previous question.

Of course the earth is at the center of our solar system, why would you even have to ask? It, and the other planets in the system, orbit the sun just to prove that the earth is so powerful, the center of the solar system moves right along with it.

Yeah, that's it. Riiiight. ;o)

Standing here looking up into the sky.....from my perspective....Yes, I do believe the earth is the centre of the Solar System.

Center... That is a geographic term....

It is the CENTER of the solar system in terms of our experience, seeing as how our experience is confined to this earth...

So what? Who cares where we are located, it isn't like we can go anwhere else at the moment.

No. We're the third planet out. The ability to support and evolve life is what makes Earth unique, plus the big size of our moon.

No. In fact, if we were at the center, the gravity would cause stars to be closer and to erupt violently. Who knows how long the Earth would last?

You know the "center" is not stationary, but moves through space rather quickly...

Of course not. Because science has proven that it isn't.
