It is in a very ideal place. I am not yet crazy enough to mince my thoughts like that.
Any way, you threw a stone on this pond. Hmmm... let me think.
It should be my stomach. Big enough to accommodate and has enough protection as well. But then still I feel I am getting crazy to answer like that.

The head always seemed too vulnerable a place. I think the chest would be a good place. While we're redesigning though, I would make the rib cage stronger and heavier with less space between the ribs and move the lungs lower down to make space for the brain. Would be nice to make the brain crescent shaped leaving enough space to fit the lungs and the heart under the ribs. You would also need a diaphragm between the brain and the lungs so that the brain is not subjected to pressure changes with each breath. Hmm, I think I begin to understand why the damn thing is where it is!!

If the brain was not located in a persons head, you would need to put it in an area protected by bone - say in the thoracic cavity. This area would then have to be enlarged so that it could fit all the vital organs. If this was possible you would probably have to have your eyes, nose and mouth located in your chest as well and you would probably not need your head anymore.

in the chest, behind the ribs, because it needs to be kept warm and protected. The brain is in the head for an evolutionary reason though, so i say we just leave it there.

I seem to run into quite a few people who have theirs in the rectosigmoid region, and the pelvis is a fairly good protective ring, but it mightn't work too well in pregnancy. Designing a new species, are you?
