Does that hinder my chances of getting into a good college? btw the major I hope to pursue is political sciences

The 580 isn't horrendous, and because your english comp score is high, you will get into a decent, but not a top, college with your overall score. It probably does help somewhat that you aren't going into a major which is heavily quantitative, but they still won't ignore the score. But it is what it is. There are still lots of great schools you can get into, and this will not ruin your life.

Yes. 1290 is not a great score but it is a good score. The 1290 will affect your chance of getting into a great school, but the math only being 580 will hurt you when it comes to people on the bubble. Many times people appeal the decision of a school not to accept them, and having strong math skills is certainly something you could have used on appeal. Unless you are applying to a tech school, I don't see the math being separated out too often to affect the acceptance or denial.

You should be okay, but it depends on the college you want to get into. If you have good grades and extracurricular activities then you should be fine for a decent 4 year school. You may want to consider retaking the test next year while studying a bit harder for the math section in the mean time.
