I have a ten year old kid in year 5. His teachers say that he is working at a level which is the maximum somebody in year 6 can achieve. I don't know how to help him .What are my options? Any ideas heartly welcome. Thanks

I've never heard that there is a maximum that anyone can achieve; it sounds like he is somewhat over his grade level, but since they aren't telling you he should be in college, I wouldn't overreact. Keep your eyes open for signs of boredom; it is possible he would be underchallenged. Make sure he has enough to keep him stimulated. Supply him with books, take him to places where he can be exposed to new and interesting things (museums, nature, etc.), and give him an opportunity to learn more about the things he sees. If you are in a place where the stars are visible, for example, you may work with him to research the constellations and learn more about astronomy. Let him play a musical instrument, if he has any interest, because it has been found that musical and mathematical structures are similar, and development of one can help the other. If he is the kind of kid who is interested in cultures, let him pick one and learn about many aspect of it. My nephew, for example, has developed a fascination with Japan. He is now 12, but has been learning the language and martial arts for a couple of years, and he has been building a lot of knowledge about the country.

There are some excellent online programs for bright kids. I was lucky enough to find an excellent school for my boy and they were on a grant program for gifted kids. He is now 22 and a budding photojournalist. I wish you a great deal of prayers and faith for finding a good program for your own child.
