A good standard is half the private value of a car with a clean title. $1900 is approximately it's worth. Depending on the amount of damage, the type of damage, how verifiable the damage was (pictures of the damaged vehicle are a huge asset) and the quality of the repairs, you may be able to squeeze 60% of the clean title value out of it. If you're buying a reconstructed car ( I have twice with fine results and great savings) make sure you bring it to a body shop to inspect the frame/alignment and a mechanic for a complete pre-purchase inspection. If it passes muster buy the car if it fits your budget but only put liability insurance on it since its diminished value makes collision and comprehensive coverage worthless. Oh, and pray you don't have an accident!

I'd never offer more than half of the KBB price for a reconstructed vehicle. And that would only apply if I had all of the details on the rebuild and had it inspected by a qualified body shop. $1,500 - $1,800 for that 318. Tops.

I'd knock a few hundred off just because KBB is full of crap for most cars.

Then a few hundred to a thousand more for the title, but that depends on why it was reconstructed, when it happened, and whether they can prove what happened.
