'Lac qui parle' is a French translation of the name given to a lake (located in west-central Minnesota) by the Dakota Indians who called it :
'Lake that speaks'.

Talking lake. Sounds like a name of a lake in French Canada or in Louisiana. Talking Lake sounds like a name the Native Americans would have used. Maybe the French settlers translated the name from the native language into French.
