Because most Christians have never learned the history of Christianity and have NEVER READ the ENTIRE Bible, and therefore don't know that God did MANY sadistic, immoral things, such as repeatedly COMMANDING his followers to kidnap, enslave, torture, rape, forcibly abort, and kill people. Instead, they BLINDLY believe and repeat (via brainwashing) whatever their preachers tell them.

I usually don't lump all Christians together. I know many Christians who are really smart, open-minded people. We may have friendly metaphysical disagreements, but we usually get along. I know many other Christians who actually do try to follow in the footsteps of Jesus by volunteering at a food shelf or something like that.
What gets my bile are two types of people who give Christianity a bad name. The first are the brainless nabobs who keep parroting scripture and pushing religion non-stop until they drive everybody away. The second are the swaggering, jingoistic bigots who don't even remotely act like Christians and probably never read the Bible, but who are quick to damn non-Christians to hell. I have to admit that I take delight in pissing them off, especially the latter group...

Well put. I know what you mean. I have lots of athiest friends who put me down for my faith. The truth is, I am a science major at a liberal college, so i struggled with myy faith alot, but i can't help what i feel in my heart. I tried to join a local christian group but i found a lot of the ignorant brain-washed type. The middle is a wierd place to be, athiests roll their eyes at you, christians shake their heads at you. I think there are more of us than you think though, so just continue with your faith and ignore the judgemental people.

you have grouped all atheists at the same time even however they're all diverse. Your final line: by skill of Definition of everybody having a distinctive interpretation, many would desire to be the suitable option. would not coach or disprove any factor and is beside the point. many human beings have self assurance in Pishwarly the Goddess of wood ships and that i've got prayed to her on many a coarse sea yet that dos no longer coach she exists, of reason she does even though it would not coach she does.

wow - that was a backhanded apology - next time, just slap me, will ya? That would be much more sincere and truthful.
Basic thing here - you lump others, you will get lumped with others.
You say you are different from other christians, yet you run to defend those who aren't worthy of defense - and you have to admit that you have met several christians who are further from christlike than an atheist is. We all have.
When you belong to a group, you get grouped. It's a fact of life, and humanity flocks to groups - we are indeed social animals.
If you wish to be seen as an individual, talk about yorself and your faith - why you have it, etc. Not run about and defend others who don't need it.

Bible says that a tree is known by its fruits.
A man is known by his acts. Many times Jesus forgave people but he asked them not to repeat it and warned that if you do a worse thing would fall unto them. Also he said that many ppl will say Jesus Jesus and act negatively , these ppl will suffer becuz they fail to act even after they know its wrong.
Read the gospels , u will know that Jesus does not give every one an open general license to act sinfully becuz he has forgiven all in his blood for everything.
Its all about doing good and not doing bad.

Because considering how LOUD these proselytizing-types can be, and considering how they pull from the same book that "mainstream" Christians believe in too...it's hard to remember that not all Christians have that same Falwell mentality.

you start off good, but then you get to your all-purpose scapegoat: "From what my bible says... the ones who are being deceived by Satan's lies, so if anything I'm not the one being brainwashed here."
You conveniently are able to pigeon-hole anyone who disagrees with you as "deceived" by the handy-dandy all-purpose-excuse "satan." It's a rather dishonest shortcut, my friend, and your own words demonstrte that yes, you are brainwashed.

Because it's easier for them to understand it that way. they don't take the time to learn about something that is a challenge, like faith, and religion. It's like a child who doesn't want to learn math saying: math is stupid, how can you believe that "numbers" actually mean something? you're just brainwashed!
Let the dumb comments run off your back.
