The Bible does not stutter on the difference. Before Jesus, God was being God with very few relationships through faith here on earth . After Jesus, God was able to experience life here on earth through Jesus. Now that He has felt our pain He offers us His forgiveness so that we can once again have a relationship with Him if we choose too. A chance to reestablish the connection between our spirits that was lost after the fall of disobedience.(Adam and Eve) God has not changed He is the same, it is us that has changed through this precious opportunity. Thank God for Jesus

When men boasted that they could do all that God commanded them God gave them the OT to obey. Under the OT men have to establish their right relationship ie their righteousness by their own efforts in obeying the law (the works of the law) but it was difficult for men. In the NT Christians are blessed with the righteousness of God in Christ by what Jesus did on the cross. By merely believing in Jesus Christ Christians have the righteousness of God in Christ. The OT is therefore salvation by works and the NT is salvation by grace. God has not changed but by giving man the NT God has given man a better covenant of grace after proving that man could not cope with the OT of works.

Because they are talking about a different person. The God of the OT is Jesus Christ, and the God of the NT is God the Father.

God is always just and always merciful- in the OT when He disciplined the Israelites for straying and disobeying, how many times did He turn and be merciful. God is still holy and just in the NT- however, it shows how far a loving God will go to save His creation from hell.

It appears that at some point god learned to behave.

No actually Jesus didn't believe in the OT or its god.

The earliest christians rejected the OT entirely and followed "Jesus". Then later even they were influenced by the mainstream christians who were still holding on to Yahweh. Of course the mainstream always wins since it has the biggest gun.

I hate to do this: but I have to ask what exactly makes you think God changed?

In the OT they lived under law, and as so they had to live up to a certain standard, and give sacrificial offerings for their sin, and be faithful to God in trusting him. When people disobeyed God showed justice - He punished them through various ways, but the message through the OT still spoke of a God who was full of love and wanted to save people.

In the NT God sent JESUS to take the place of all of those sacrificial offerings...People are still expected to live up to a certain standard, and to be faithful to God and trust in him. When people rebel/disobey God still shows justice by punishing them in various ways - but the message of the NT is still the same: God loves you and wants you to be saved.

See?
Same.

God has never changed. Only man and his concept of God have changed. Don't confuse the words of man with the words of God.

God does as he pleased, stop making fun of god *goes insane*
you weak pathetic mortals need to stop bashing our holy father.

He is so powerful that he could destroy all of creation but he doesn't because he is so just and good.

I see this a lot. There is no difference.

Proof? Okay.

Jesus tells that only a few will make it:
Matthew 7
13 "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

21 "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' 23 Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'

Jesus says that there will be trouble between family members because of him:
Matthew 10
34 "Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to turn
" 'a man against his father,
a daughter against her mother,
a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law -
36 a man's enemies will be the members of his own household.'

Old Testament
God tells others to love:
Leviticus 19:34
The alien living with you must be treated as one of your native-born. Love him as yourself, for you were aliens in Egypt. I am the LORD your God.

God tells of His love for Judah:
Hosea 1:7
Yet I will show love to the house of Judah; and I will save them—not by bow, sword or battle, or by horses and horsemen, but by the LORD their God."

God tells of His love for those not His people:
Hosea 2:23
I will plant her for myself in the land; I will show my love to the one I called 'Not my loved one. ' I will say to those called 'Not my people, ' 'You are my people'; and they will say, 'You are my God.' "

So you see? God loves those who trust Him. Regardless if it is in the OT or NT, God still wants trust. To those people He promises life.
