Since you are too young, with a daughter, my advice will be that, you should not take the little girl to the prison, she doesn't know what really is going on, if your daughter ask you for her dad, just tell her that he is working, and show her pictures about him if you got any, and always say good things about him to your daughter.

I must say, good for you! I do not know many 12 year olds who would keep a baby if they got pregnant. It mustn't be easy. I don't think I would take her. Being exposed to something like that so early on in life can not have good effects later in life. My family is very screwed up and I am in court every year for my mother trying to get custody. I am 13 and now hate anything to do with judges or lawyers and court. however, if you do take her, let her spend time with him and don't say anything in front of your daughter that is not kind. Trust me, it isn't fair to the child.

15 with a 3 year old. Seriously just wow. I'm not getting into that.
As for what you say, well it'd be nice to know why he's there and how old he is. But Best to let your daughter have her time with him. What you say will be spur of the moment, but it's her time with her father more than your time with him. Let the situation play out.

Just say anything except all the old jokes about prison showers, and you should get by just fine...... usually whats been going on out here in the real world to keep them up to date is a fairly good topic.

there's not much you can say, hello, and be as patient as possible, the guys after being locked up are very jealous of you being out in the open, they usually try to accuse you of being or seeing other people even if you are not, be patient, you are young and you have to realize the life you are passing on to your child and even though you may have taken some kind of oath, your child is the next generation

You have a nearly three year old daughter... and you're fifteen flippin' years old? Lordy, lordy lordy! Honey, you're just asking to be judged.
How old is this kat in jail?
Say "Hey -insert kat's name here-.... I miss you and can't wait for you to come home..."
Wowza. This is the most.... interesting question I have ever answered. 0.o

don't worry, i won't judge.
what you should tell him is that it's sad for his daughter to be in this situation because of him and that he should learn from his experiences there. you should also tell him that you want him to be a part of her life even if you don't want him to be a part of hers because your daughter needs a father as much as she needs a mother. i'm sure you know what i mean since your own father was absent at times, you should know how she would feel. be kind to him and i'm sure he'll be kind back. me telling you to say anything else would just be too personal.. i'm sure you know what to say. :)
hope this helped.

Only you can know if this is what you want in your life. Personally, I would never let my daughter have anything to do with a convict. I would want better for her and for my granddaughter.
I would ask yourself if this is all you are worth.
