You can't just pull the plug on her, it won't work. That is like trying to pull the straw from a coke fiends nose. So, you have recognized that her computed addiction has been disrupting the homeostasis within the family. Now you need to seek professional help just like any other addiction, and don't be mistaken the behaviors are very much the same in addicts no matter what, computer, gambling, alcohol, etc......

There isn't anything you can do. However, write her a letter and tell her how you feel. Tell her that you feel you are coming second place to a bunch of wires and plastic and you need your mother.

Seriously I don't know if it will help, but since I have been there, done that (years ago but when my kids were in high school), you can give her a message from me. Tell her that I said you cannot ever make up that time, and 5-6 years down the road the regret will haunt you. You have to get off the computer, and do it now before you lose your family. I woke up, I hope your mom can too.

Tell her what you think and she should under stand. If that doesn't work just step in and shut the power off to that part of the house until your point gets across cause if she doesn't get that she needs to spend more time with her kids and family then on the internet you should find some sort of help for her nothing major just like a theropist.

Switch the computer off and make your point about needing to spend time with her.Maybe if computer use is such an addiction then you might like to suggest a therapist or get some counselling yourself so as you know how to deal with your mums addiction to the computer.
