WWI ended with the signing of the Treaty of Versailles. The Treaty of Versailles (1919) was the peace treaty which officially ended World War I between the Allied and Associated Powers and Germany. It was signed exactly 5 years after the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, the event that triggered the start of the war. Although the armistice signed on November 11, 1918 put an end to the actual fighting, it took six months of negotiations at the Paris Peace Conference to conclude a peace treaty. Of the many provisions in the treaty, one of the most important and controversial provisions required Germany and its allies to accept full responsibility for causing the war and, under the terms of articles 231-248, disarm, make substantial territorial concessions and pay reparations to certain countries that had formed the Allies. The treaty was finally agreed upon by the Big Three, Britain, France & the United States. Russia had already made their peace treaty with Germany requiring Germany to give up some of it's territory to surrounding countries as part of the agreement.

I really think an 8th graders should do their own home work or take a "0" grade like I got from not doing it.
The end of WWI began with an agreement to a "Cease Fire", this started "Peace Talks" about President Wilson's peace terms. The French and British didn't like the President's peace term ideas and decided to punish Germany for the War by taking away part of Germany, all overseas German colonies and pay France and Britain money each year. By this time the German Army had withdrew and went home. The way WWI ended made Germans feel very bitter and betrayed. In this way, WWI was the cause of WWII.
There kid! See what you can do with that..

The British army joined the French, pursuing a weary campaign of sniping at the enemy from the trenches, interrupted by occasional forays over the trench walls and coming face to face with the enemy. The Americans joined the trenches in 1917, and brought in tanks in an attempt to break the deadlock. After four years of dogged fighting and a total of 10 million deaths, it became clear that the German army could not carry on the fight. The Germans were running out of materiel, facing starvation at home, and frustrated soldiers were deserting. In October 1918, the German generals asked for a cease fire. There were long and protracted negotiations. The Germans would not surrender and the Allies, British French and Americans, had fought too long to accept that kind of a truce where the other side remained fully armed. They needed the Germans to disarm, and demanded severe conditions for an armistice. On 10th November 1918, the German government collapsed and the Kaiser abdicated, leaving the German army no choice but to accept the Allies terms. It was mutually agreed that each side would simultaneously cease fire the next day, 11th November, at noon, German time, corresponding to 11-00 A.M. British time.

WW1 came to end after 4 years of bitter trench warfare on NOV 11 1918, also known as the 11th hour of the 11 day on the 11th month. The German high command on that instant issued the word all quiet on the Western Front. With the the killing on Flanders Fields came to end and the allies forced the Germans to sign the Treaty of Versailles which led directly to WW2.

The war actually ended in a military stalemate. However, politically, the German and Austria-Hungarian leadership was forced to abdicate all powers to the Allies, thus the Treaty of Versailles.

A cultural revolution started in Germany toppling the monarchy. The oligarchic nations forced reparations on Germany. Germany spiralled into depression with high inflation and resulting in economic collapse. From the ashes rose a fascist dictatorship causing WWII.
