i prayed for my my mom in a trapped lift, and within a minute, the lift door opened!
i prayed for my laptop charging cable to be found, and the next day, when i entered my office, someone called me and said he found my charging cable!
i prayed for a blind man to see, and within minutes, he saw! he cried, and said he wanted to believe in Jesus!
i prayed for this little girl who was deaf from young to hear. she could not speak too. after i prayed, she spoke the word "pastor"! and she started uttering excitedly!
i prayed for my acute stomache to go one night, and it went off suddenly and miraculously, much to my relief.
my youth group prayed for rain not to come during a 3 day continuous downpour because we would be having games. so when we started our games outdoors, the rain stopped, the dark clouds gathered AROUND where we were having games, and when we finished our games, the clouds came in, and it started to rain!!!

OK good now do this in a controlled environment and a Nobel prize is yours for the asking. You miight also try working on something that matters such as those starving in Africa or being murdered in Darfur but I guess your god is more concerned with your elevator problems.

So you're saying that until you mentioned it, your God was unaware that you didn't want your mother to be trapped in a lift? I'm not religious, but that sounds like blasphemy to me. Isn't he meant to know everything?

God answers prayer, not because of who we are or what we do, but because of who He is and the fact that He loves us so much. As humans, it's difficult to understand this kind of unselfish, unconditional love, but He will always answer when we call on Him. Just remember though, we may not always get the answer we want.
