I live in Southern California and I'll be leaving from Las Vegas. I know little about them so I don't know what they like. What would be a good general present? I can't bottle up the sunshine; although I can try! Thanks for all your suggestions!

California is famous for its Wine, So bring wine or a good Bourbon, so you can compare with a Good Malt Whiskey, I wouldnt recommend sand as a gift, that just cheap. Please excuse my answer if you are under 18, In that case some cheapy colourful t-shirts would do.

You can take them tee shirts. Hard Rock Cafe, In and Out burger..landmark tees from California, especially if there are teens or kids in the family. (Maybe even Mickey Mouse or Disneyland.) Something very American. For the adults, come on...See's candy is very Californian! Anything that says: California!! Good luck and I wish I were going with you!

make a scrap-book of pictures (or a video) of things from your regular life; day-to-day things that Hollywood film and TV doesn't adequately capture. seeing how other cultures really live is fascinating, and despite similar language and some exposure to each others' cultures via the media, there's still a disconnect; little things like street signs, a typical back yard, a classroom/workplace, your local park, etc.

BRING some shells and sand in a bottle...I think they would like that..Pictures of california! A photo album? a picture of a movie star? a video tape of places in cali.would be nice,of your home,your family,famous places,and people.
