my best guy friend always insists on paying for me whenever we go out. no matter where we go, he always insists on footing the bill, even if i offer to cover us (he says that his mom gives him money for these occasions specifically).
is he just being chivalric or does he want something from me?
is it appropriate for me to ask to treat him sometimes?
it sort of makes me a little uncomfortable at times, being as we're not dating but used to go out. back then he'd do the same. not saying that i don't like being paid for, because i do like feeling taken-care-of :D. but it just seems sort of unfair to him?

As I always say, "Chivalry IS NOT dead, but only practiced by very few". You said he did that in the past when you dated and really it sounds to me that it's in his nature. He doesn't want anything but your company as far as I can tell. He's just a hell of a guy. Enjoy it. I mean if he felt it were unfair, I'm sure he'd say something, I know I would. Cheerio.

Chivalry is dead, and women have killed it... sorry to say... but hey, if it's dead, might as well be nice and take him out. In fact, plan it. Tell him this weekend I"M going to pay, my treat. We men who weren't raised by wolves can't suppress our chivalry at times, forgive us, we're sexist.

i agree with him --- i love to pay for a lady when we go out --- and he probably wants your company and nothing more --- accept as a gift from him to you --- and im sure he gets pleasure from treating you
