I obviously know what artistic means, but a girl said I seemed like, "the bruting artistic type". What does that mean?

Probably she means "brooding" Which means that you tend to be quiet and thoughtful, but in a dark tormented way. Like Batman would be brooding on the injustice in the world

She probably said "brooding" which means moody. It has nothing to do with Brut the tacky men's cologne. By the way, the "brooding and artistic" types are very popular with some females. Until they mature a bit, that is.

It's probably "brooding, artistic type". That means you appear to keep to yourself, are quiet, look deep in thought and/or slightly angry.
