One of my maternal grandmothers, Alice Driver, was burned at the stake in Ipswich in 1558. A monument stands in the park there in remembrance of her and nine other martyrs burnt by the religious lunatics of the day. There is not one shadow of doubt in my mind that given the chance the devout would revisit this practice as a matter of urgency. I would expect to see GW Bush and Tony Blair holding the flaming torch.

Oddly enough I used to work with a fellow called Chris Stern who was a direct descendant of John Stern, adjudant to Mathew Hopkins, the witch finder general. John Stern actually had no part in the death of Alice Driver as the two were separated by 100 years.

I don't think so- well, I don't think Christians would burn more heretics and I know for sure Christians won't rule the world. The Bible, which strongly supports the Golden Rule, is widely circulated and complete, and there would be too much opposition to burning people, even heretics. Secretly though? I think some "Christians" would love to burn some of those heretics out there. Then again, would they be Christians if they wanted to and did so?

The probably will and worst with modern day's technology!
But if Christ Rules together with His Saints, then that's a different story. You need spiritual enlightening to know the final outcome which only the Holy Spirit can reveal. Apostle Paul seen it and his prayers if for us who are true believers to see it too ! God's Time and Timetable beside the church readiness are also in play here.
Go ask God for the enlightening of your eyes that you may see!

I wish someone would burn my heretics they suck all the energy out of me. It's that flee bitten Mole Rat who brings them down here. Will have to get the lowish frequency electric chair out again it's the only way to deal with them.

If you knew anything about history, you would understand that the "heretics" that were often burned were the ones who were truly following Jesus Christ.
May I recommend to you "Fox's Book of Martyrs"

No, but we wouldn't be under the rule of heretics as we are today.

Why do you think the people who did that were Christian?
There is nothing in scripture to make you believe this is something a Christian would be taking part in.
If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck it is probably a duck.
If it calls itself a duck but has four legs, fur, and growls you should probably doubt its claim.

My church, and common sense, teaches me to treat those whose opinions are different from mine with respect and tolerance. This is a big world, and while Christianity is my religion, it is not the only religion. So, to answer your question, no.

They DO rule the world, or America at least. In my opinion, if you control America, the world is yours, but in some places they do burn accused heretics. Look at the KKK, look at the Catholic church, look at homosexual slander and the like. Either way, there is no possible way for Christianity to relieve itself of it's past ways in any form, because their book is over 2000 years old.
