I don't know if he is fake either. But my complaint about the show is that it is not based on what the average person should do to survive.

Parachuting in? Sure maybe a plane crash but most people get lost hiking in the woods and become disoriented or by entering a wilderness area by car or foot and have a way to walk back to the same area they came from. You should tell people when you are getting back and when you don't show they come looking for you. You stay where you are and build a shelter to conserve your energy and keep from becoming dehydrated.

He immediately "moves out" to the highest peak in every show to get his bearings. Usually using up a signifigant amount of sweat and there by speeding dehydration. He always seems lucky enough to find some water source and he always eats before he has water. You can survive 30 days without food, but if you start eating before drinking water, your body uses up the available water for dehydration. You'll DIE in about 4 days without any water or fluids. Your urine? There seems to be some disagreement but I have been taught and have read that drinking urine is a bad idea as it adds to dehydration and puts back into your system the same toxins you are trying to get rid of.

Plus he risks himself far too often and I think he does so to add drama to the show. The time where he "tested" a rope hanging down and said, "Well, only one way to find out."

That is pure idiocy. You don't risk a 40 foot fall because you are too lazy to find a safer way around. Broken backs do not help in survival situations. They help to get you KILLED.

I don't know if he is a fake. But he breaks many of the rules of survival. And he moves like a special forces team to an objective. Not many people can or should do it that way. Plus notice how he starts fires? With a flint! Granted that's why you have a survival kit. Starting fire by the ole friction method is a pain in the @$$! Plus if it's raining? It doesn''t work even less!

I like Survivorman much better. Not that there isn't something to learn from Grylls though. Just not the overall plan.

Well,I'm guessing that you mean"does he really do everything by himself,or does he cheat?"
and nobody knows, except for the people who make the show, and they know that if people knew it was fake they wouldn't watch, the ratings would drop, the show would get canceled, and they wouldn't make money.
so untill maybe sometime after it goes off the air we'll know.but I think the perpose of the show is to educate you on wilderness survival,I don't sit down to watch it and say"lets watch and see what this guy can do" I just want to learn something new.
and even if he does do research about the areas before he goes:"survival starts at home" you won't surviv anywhere if you don't do research at home,I try to know as much as I can about plants and such in all different evironments.
So in conclusion, nobody knows, and it doesn't really matter anyway.

Yes it is VERY fake, ask any experienced outdoors man.

I saw him break the first rule of survival, never drink your urine. Drinking your own urine increases dehydration, the first thing I learned in hunters education. Its just like drinking salt water, a BIG no no.

Not to mention the fact that mister know it all studies and prepares for each place that he is going. Not like people in real survival situations would be able to look up info on the internet and get familiar with native species of animals and plants.

well if professionals made that bow they suck cuz it broke on the first shot, but it is possible that he does recieve som off camra assistance but i dont want to speculate but even at that i wouldnt call it fake, becuse of the fact that hes simply tryng to educate u on whut u might do in a survival situation so whut if somone off screen gave him a coconut theres still coconuts around and the advice is sound (well most of it)

Bear Grylls is quite real. He's former British SAS ( Special Forces ) and he was the youngest Brit to have ever climbed Mt. Everest and survived to tell about it. He's a tough young man.

Yes it's fake and he should be prosecuted for killing a snake that is illegal to kill unless you must do it to survive. Saying you really need to eat a snake to survive when a camera crew is filming your every move is a lie. If the man was hungry all he had to do is ask for a candy bar.

of course he recieves off camera assistance and prepares for each area he goes into so he can accurately teach people to survive. he pretty much is the real deal, like les stroud of suvivorman. also many people lost at sea have drank their own urine to overcome dehyration and survived, sometimes you gotta do what ya gotta do to survive.

This show is desinged for entertainment. Unfortunately, some clown will try to use something that show does and will end up dying for it.
