If you could name the TOP 3 (excluding soy), I would greatly appreciate it. I MEAN IT WHEN I SAY *LOW CALORIE*!!! So, don't tell me Peanut Butter, that's anywhere from 100 to 200 per TBSP that's insane & so much calories from fat!!! I already eat 2 TBSP with celery each day thus eating 400 calories per the brand I badly chosen before hand to buy and have and finish eating and only getting 7g of Protein out of it. Compared to my Soy Vegan Boca Burger it puts the Peanut Butter to shame, 70 calories & 13g of protein, but again I don't want to eat soy every freakin day. Soy is not THAT good for you.

Also, if you are going to say BEANS then please say the exact type (example: Red Beans).

Jeannette C - please don't tell me what I already know ... I'm asking this Q because since I've cut back on my calorie intake I'm finding it harder to achieve my protein intake. I need something that's low cal and high protein that's a veggie! Since I'm Vegan.

Peas!. always keep a bag of frozen peas in the freezer. they are the best vegetable you can eat....

Peas are a good source of vitamin A, vitamin C, folate, thiamine (B1), iron and phosphorus.
As pulses, they are rich in protein, carbohydrate and fibre and low in fat which is mostly of the unsaturated kind.
Half a cup of frozen peas has only 5% of the daily value for sodium. Foods low in sodium are good for your heart.
An 85 gram serving of peas, cooked, provides 50 calories, 4 grams of protein, 8 grams of carbohydrate (of which 3.5 grams are sugars), 3.8 grams of fibre, 17mg of vitamin C (28% of the recommended daily allowance) and 0.2mg Thiamine (B1) (15% of the recommended daily allowance).

beans, and most legumes are very high in protein, low in sugar, low in calories, and low in fat. I like kidney bean, and red beans, as they are low in everything. Black beans are as well. Lentils are great too. They are not veg.'s however, and you asked about veg.'s. there aren't any veg.'s that I can think of that are high in protein, unless sweet potatoes are a veg. I think they are. Of course, remember, if you fix all those beans with olive oil, or bacon, etc. , there goes the low fat, and low calorie intake. I never put anything into them when I am dieting. I eat them plain, but they are really filling, so that is good. Avery protein food, low in fat and calories, is egg whites, 15 calories per egg white, and no fat, no sugar, just protein.

Beans all have similar amounts of protein and calories, provided they are prepared without added calories in the form of fats or sugars. There is nothing wrong with eating a lot of soy.
However, you may want to try quinoa and amaranth-both grains that yield lots of complete protein.

Hi,

I've tried so many different diets in the last 10 years that I can say now, they don't work!
A few months ago, I came across a great product for weight loss and like many others I was skeptical about it. But I really wanted to lose weight and I tried it. The results were excellent and I lost 20 pounds in 2 months. I felt fantastic and I dropped another 5 pounds safely. That's why I recommend you check this product at
http://www.ezunderstand.info where they have a free trial and you only pay 4.97$ shipping and handling.
Good luck!

All the beans - kidney beans, black, red, big, small, black eyed peas and all other peas.
peanut butter is not a good source of protein (its pretty low in protein) but its a great source of healthy fats.
