It is not bad luck to take off your ring. I can understand how you'd want to take it off during work or while cleaning so as not to get it dirty. If you find that the diamond is looking a little less shiny, you can use toothpaste and an old toothbrush to make it brilliant again.

I don't believe in superstitions, so I don't believe it is bad luck.
I take all my rings off at night, in the shower and when i am working (I work with kids and do art projects, paint on ring is not a good thing! Especially to expensive rings such as engagement/wedding) etc
I just don't take my rings off and set them on counters or anything. Especially near a sink where there isn't a drainer. Many people have lost their rings do to that. Same with toilets or not putting in jewelery box, it falls on floor and can take awhile to find (I admit, I was guilty of that).

The ring is a symbol of your love and your vows.
Take it off when you have a reason to, as you explained.
If you are ever considering taking if off so that you don't appear to be engaged or married, then you have a problem. You can call it bad luck or bad karma, but it is you being a bad girl.

Take off your ring at night, for goodness sake! Here's why: as you sleep, you roll around in bed, fluff your pillow, accidentially hit the wall, reach for your alarm clock to see the time, and so forth. All of this can loosen the lovely diamond that makes up the center of your engagement ring!
On behalf of all the hardworking guys who have bought engagement rings, PLEASE take it off at night!
As for in the shower, etc, the same goes. It's metal and stone; soap isn't helping either.
Simply put: you don't need the ring to be worn all the time to keep you two together. There is no bad luck, only the love that you both share.

maybe the bad luck would be if you lost it! i, personally NEVER take mine off, except to clean it and then i put it right back on. I honestly don't believe that it's bad luck. It is a symbol of your commitment to your significant other, and the "luck" is just coincidence. by the way i've been married (happily) for 4 years, together for 10. again the ring is just a loving symbol. : ) that's just my thought though.

I don´t believe in good or bad luck, so I couldn´t tell you, so here is a suggestion...
I used to manage jewelry stores, and people were always wasting their money on cleaner for diamonds. Take an old soft bristle toothbrush, put toothpaste on it, and lightly brush your diamond-the bristles get underneath your stones. Don´t take off your ring-you don´t want to loose it, do you? Just do this every day, and your ring will stay pretty always.

it is actualy recomended to take your ring of when you are working. How would you feel if you RUINED your ring (denting it or something worse!)? I wouldn't be happy. I take my ring off in the shower (i don't want to lose it down the drain), when i'm working, painting, or using harsh chemicals (they can eat away at the meatal).
Don't believe in bad luck. I think you can make your own luck. I would take my ring off and i got married just fine :) don't worry about it hunny. I even switched the ring on my fingers sometimes (my figers shrink really bad when it gets cold)
Just do what you need to do to keep your ring safe. Just when you take it off, put it in it's box so you don't loose it!

LOL
I've taken mine off to mow, shower, do anything messy with my hands.
Still engaged, still getting married.
Still in love.
Bad luck is only what you make of it. If you think its bad luck, then bad things will happen. If you thumb your nose at what is considered bad luck, then you won't have any problems.

It's just a ring! Don't be superstitious! Ever think about how many people tried it on while it was at the jewelry store before your fiance bought it? No bad luck to worry about!

I don't think it's bad luck - I don't believe in luck. I also take mine off at night, in the shower, and sometimes at work seeing I work in I.T.......neither of my parents wear their wedding bands anymore and they're still like two little newlyweds, lol!
