"But under certain circumstances there are some serious sins for which the cleansing of Christ does not operate, and the law of God is that men must then have their own blood shed to atone for their sins."

-Doctorines of Salvation

The Bible teaches that the blood of Christ is the only way to salvation, so why do Mormons believe that Jesus' sacrafice wasn't good enough for certain sins?

Sorry I didn't specify that murder is one of the sins Mormons do not believe Christ's blood can atone for so here is the rest of the statement:

Murder, for instance, is one of these sins; hence we find the Lord commanding capital punishment."... "President Joseph Fielding Smith has written: "Man may commit certain grievous sins -- according to his light and knowledge -- that will place him beyond the reach of the atoning blood of Christ. If then he would be saved, he must make sacrifice of his Own life to atone.

As for Joseph Fielding Smith's book Doctrines of Salvation.
and any other book written by a General Authority aren't Mormon Doctrine but are the opinion of the author.

Two things that Christ's blood won't atone for

1. Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit that he had full knowledge of Holy Spirit and then denies it that he also denies the resurrection of Christ.

Hebrews 6:
4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,
6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

2. Murder

1 John 3

15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

Easy....modern revelation through a prophet chosen by God.

It's a very short list of "unforgivable" sins. These are:

1. Murder by those who have knowledge and understanding of the true Gospel.

2. Those who have a perfect knowledge of God and Jesus Christ (ie, not Faith, but knowledge) and then rebel against them.

Again, the question shouldn't be about the atonement, but about prophets.

If God is calling prophets in Modern times, then their revelations are just as true as the words of Moses and Isaiah.

Look - the messiah was sacrificed once and for all - for the forgivenesa of all our sins ... but;

Who has power to keep nailing him to the stake day after day for their willful sins ... Oh, I had to fornicate or adulterate cause I was horny and could not control myself ... ALRIGHTY THEN ...

Project Nail Messiah to Stake begins again???

Shoot no - I saw above one wrote of Hebrews 10:27 the scripture immeditely brought to my mind when reading the question ...

It clearly states - (I paraphrase cause it is dark in here and can't see to read my bible):

' He who sins willfully AFTER COMING TO THE FULL KNOWLEDGE OF THE LAW, there IS NO MORE FORGIVENESS OF SIN ' ... it went pretty close to that from what I remember ...

I just tend to believe what the law and the prophets have said.

The only sin that this is required by is Murder. Even in the Bible it is required. Read the O.T.

I am not mormon but Jehovah´s witness remember that sin against the holy spirit is unforgiveable so that point is correct.

Matt 12:31

Because their fable makes FAR more sense than the fables of the bible. They saw through it and changed it, to make it more believable - it worked.
