While a lot of folks would have thought it was a cute song considering you are his daughter, dads get weird sometimes especially as we all get songs stuck in our heads for different reasons. He might have been saying something stupid to keep from crying--dads don't like to let us go after all. I can't say you are overreacting but I'd chalk it up to a miscommunication if I could.

Do you and your dad have a close relationship? Or are you two a bit distant and maybe he was uncomfortable and wanted to make a joke and break the ice? Maybe he had a vision of this moment with you and had a different mood and song picked out. Regardless, this was your wedding and that is the song you picked. Tell him that even though it is over and done with, it hurt you to have him say that during an important part of your wedding and memory with him. Ask him why he did not like the song and tell him that if he had a sing in mind you wished he would have shared it with you instead.
I played Butterfly Kisses, for my wedding song, which is a longer song, and my dad asked me how much longer it was going to be? He isn't one for dancing and having a lot of attention on him and are not that close. I did not take it personally for these reasons and was not going to let it ruin my day.

Well I would be....but be happy ur Dad is even involved! When i told my dad I was getting married, he turned it into an opportunity to unload his problems on me and disown me...U don't have much choice here: either u suck it up and pick a new song, or keep the song, or don't have the dance...u pick.

Did you ask your dad for his song preference? He was probably feeling shy and awkward about dancing in front of everybody. Perhaps, he was not comfortable with his dancing ability.
Maybe, that song brought back bad memory?

Maybe he just hates the song, or thinks about that poor Culken kid being killed by bees in the movie.........
I would talk to him, and let him know that it hurt your feelings that he would say that, instead of just being there and dancing with his newly married daughter.

I wouldn't get mad. Maybe you should have picked the song together.

In a wedding, he's "giving you away".
'My Girl" just might have been a bit of a pang??

Maybe he associates that song with a negative event in his life you never knew about? Rather than seething, I suggest discussing this with him.
