Sidney, assuming that quote is yours maybe hallmark would be interested in that drivel.
Faith as an answer is saying I do not understand, this is beyond my comprehension, since I can't understand this god did it. As a few others have said it is the equivalent of saying I said so. Faith is as worthless as bible quotes in an argument.

There is nothing wrong with it. Faith is talked about in Hebrews 11. It's named the faith chapter for a reason. It lists all of these people in the Bible that worked on faith and the result of their stepped out on faith. "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for; the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good testimony. By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible." Hebrews 11:1-3 Faith isn't something that you can easily understand or explain. It's not a bad answer. It is simply an answer of someone that accepts God over logic. Remember, "For we walk by faith, not by sight." 2 Corinthians 5:7 People do not like the idea of faith because some people think it is a cop out. Ignore what people say and live your life by faith.

Faith is as good as any other method of seeking this sort of truth. After all, God's existence cannot be proven by logical means; it would be a pointless mad chase after nothingness to think that logic and reason could prove the existence of God. Faith doesn't prove it either. But the real problem is not proving whether God does or does not exist. It is figuring out what personal structure you associate with the God concept and how to bring this structure into harmony with what you value most. One can achieve this harmony by many paths--faith and reason are both valid methods to use. But neither will prove the concrete existence of God as an objective material entity. The gods of the various religions all have human translators, and we all know what happens when a work is translated. Some of the translator ends up in the final product. Best to seek and find out for yourself, whether by faith or by reason.

for someone who truly believes in God, faith is the only possible answer. God calls us to believe His Word by faith. Believing without having to see. Being able to trust God no matter what. It's true that God works in mysterious and wondrous ways. For that reason, human logic and reason don't always work when trying to figure out the "how" and "why" of what God does in our lives.
If "faith" is really your answer, then God is very pleased.

Faith means to believe without any or without the need for evidence, according to the scientific method if there is no evidence physical or otherwise, then it can't be proven.
We, as people pertaining to facts and reasoning, find it hard to believe in something that isn't or can't be proven.
"Everyone has faith that they were created for something" - No, I BELIEVE that my parents brought me into this world so that I may carry on the family and its name, not because we all have a higher purpose to do with infintely powerful life fairies.
"because for an atheist to say they don't believe in god they have to have absolute faith that he doesn't exist." - To qualify for needing faith, the amount of evidence you have backing up this belief must be absolute zero, any more than that means that your belief requires no faith at all.
Take for example the belief that embryonic stem cell research will provide treatments beneficial to mankind: some evidence > no evidence = No faith needed.
Apes and humans evolved from a common ancestor by the process of natural selection: plenty of evidence > no evidence = no faith required.
Constant scientific evidence that is contrary to everything the bible says: many credible studies, fossils, carbon dating etc... evidence > no evidence = Atheism requires no faith.

Faith is an irrational emotion. It was once explained to me as the assured belief in things hoped for. So, if I have faith that I will win the lottery, I would know that I was going to win. And yet, anyone can tell you that the odds of that happening are astronomical. Thank you.

Good question. I think when someone asks why you believe X, they expect evidence. The "faith card" doesn't provide the desired answer. I'm not even sure it is an answer. It's almost like say you believe because you believe.
If I said I'm in atheist because I have faith there is no God, how would you respond?

Faith is the evidence of things not seen. So that means even though we can't see something, there is sufficient evidence to make us believe it is true. There are many things we can't see or fully understand, but know to be true because of other evidences. Belief in God should be no different.

How is "faith" a valid method of ascertaining the truth? How is "faith" more reliable than rolling a couple dice?
I'd take reason over faith any day. For example, I'd want a doctor who relies on reason treating me rather than a doctor who relies on faith. Wouldn't you? Wouldn't anyone?

Faith is what it is.... It Equals belief ! We humans were made/ "created" with our minds, body, and a soul. If you think deep for one minute---- you will realize our hearts long for Love & Acceptance & friendship. Our brain likes to be busy, or challenged, and figure out who we are and why we are on the earth. Our soul fills up with our likes in this life. The brain and your heart know they will one day die. Your Spirit knows it will always be, and desires to see into the eternal life ahead.
