I went this afternoon to hand in my resume at a few stores in mall. I went to hand in my resume (for a cashier job) to the manager at a clothing store. The manager talked to with me for about 5 minutes about my availability. She also described to me about the overtime and how much I had to be committed. She sounded really nice and everything. But I'm just wondering, if she was wasting her time to talk to me about all this, does this mean the chances are high that, that store is hiring right now? and if so, does it seem like they want to hire me? should i expect a call for an interview for about a week or more?

I would think that if she took the time to talk to you that she does need someone. Normally if a place of business has overtime available they need more help.

When you go back in for an interview, be sure to look excited about working. Dress nice, and keep eye contact. When we look away it sometimes appears as if we are hiding something. You can also call back and talk to a sales person to see if they are hiring. Usually they know if the store is looking for extra help. Good Luck

It sounds promising, if they should have any openings they might call you for an interview. Can't be sure when.
I would call back in a week and talk to the Manager and tell her, that you really would like the job.
