The one input is not a "phono" input. It is a Coaxial (S/PDif) digital audio input that carries 6 channels of digital signal. (I know it looks like a stereo cable, but it's not the same thing.) You will not be able to plug an analog stereo cable into it. If the device you are trying to amplify does not send out a Dolby Digital or DTS (if supported) surround sound digial signal through a coaxial cable then you will not get 5.1 surround sound (in fact no sound will come out.) Typically, only DVD players and Cable/Sat boxes can do this (if the have it--cheaper ones don't.) Some send the digital signal through an Optical (TosLink) cable instead, for which you would need a converter. Some stereo amps can create a virtual surround via connections through a standard analog stereo audio plug (this is not the same plug) which "mimics" the effect of surround sound (not true surround, but still good.)

Hi.Rob. Are you saying you need 2 phono inputs to connect to two turntables? If you need another one they are sold as a separate Phono Pre-Amp unit which connects to one of the line in inputs. If you could let me know.
