I understand Pascal's Wager ((drink if you want)) suggests that a Christian would lose nothing if they their beliefs are false. Personally, I disagree.

What do you think they risk losing?

I was referring to intellectual fulfillment (if atheists are right) and their souls (if another religion is right)...But that's just my thoughts...

An entire life (if they're wrong, the only one they get).

One of my favorite mentors has repeatedly pointed out to me that my personal existence (the fact that I was the particular sperm/egg cell that met) is so unlikely that it approaches the impossible.

I say, don't look a gift horse in the mouth. Enjoy life and don't worry about invisible creatures threatening you with some unknown fate.

Let's see...
You die as a so called "intellectual" atheist who has lived anyway and every way you chose, and if there was no God, you'd go to the dirt. (In reality, just a dead moron)

And I die believing and living as if all God said was true, living a good life treating others as I wanted to be treated, and as stated before, there was no God, I too would go to the dirt. ( Just a sweet and gentle lovable carcass about to be eaten by worms )

But on the other hand...if God really is there...(and He is)
Your worthless sold out simple minded sorry soul would indeed spend Eternity in a Lake of Fire that you denied existed while you had breath to just say yes to God Almighty.
But nooooooooo you were just too smart. You were an intellectual. You walked in the devils shoes and made yourself out to be someone of vast importance.

But now look at your smoldering hide!
Where's the party now tough guy?
Yeah look down your Michael Jackson nose now at the Christians who simply were trying to keep you out of THIS
Hell Hole!

I could go on, and would really love to, but I'm taking a certain ungodly delight in pressing the point so I'd better quit before I become too much like you are now.

No need for me to cover what the Christian receives if / since we are right eh?

I think Pascal's Wager applies to believing there is a God vs. there is nothing. In that case, Christians are right.
In fact, Pascal didn't just had his wager, He had a personal experience with God which marked his life (Nov 23, 1654, while reading the 17th chapter of John).

So, God gives us ways to know he is real. If Pascal (which is considered a genius) could believe in God, and many other intelligent people have done so, then it is very possible to be rational and believe in God; in fact, it is happening nowadays with very intelligent people turning to God.

Christians who have a personal relationship with Jesus have nothing to lose.

I have loved my life since I became a Christian. And you wouldn't believe the change in my husband....From rock singer to Gospel singer...Neither of us would change a thing. We have lost nothing by following Jesus. He has made it a grand and wonderful journey so far.

And for those who don't know what Christians do for fun, we have more fun now than we ever did. We go to great musical concerts..Gospel singers are better singers than secular..We go to special services at other churches with great food afterward and get together in the fellowship hall...we even go to hear Gospel comedy acts like Mark Lowrey...We did not give up a thing,,we just exchanged what we use to do, for something much better.

We also gained all the children of God as our family...we enlarged our lives...I wouldn't go back to the life we had before for all the money and fame, in the world.

Not a thing. I'm now no longer a sorry drunkard, drug addict, or hater because of my beliefs. They are setting me "free". I can actually understand freedom for once. No losses here brougham.

Christianity teaches us to live a better happier life. To have wisdom as well as simple intelligence. And to prepare for life everlasting. There is no "afterlife". Just life and death. Life in earthly paradise close to the Father and Son is continuation and fulfillment.

This world is dying and falling apart daily. Like never before. Especially in the last century. We don't base all of what we have and will have on it. Something better is on the way. "Behold, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind". Isaiah 65:17.

God bless

Well, I have asked this question. Let's say that at the end, only a few of the Christians get chosen to get into heaven...but I'm not one of them

Okay, here is what I have lost out on...
As a Christian, I have been taught to love others and to listen to them...
I've had answers to prayer and met some great friends who pray and share with me

I have learned how to walkin the principles of Matthew 5 - the beatitudes,
and to use the armor of God
and to learn about the fruit of the spirit (love, joy, peace, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperence).

So, I think I've gained a lot here even if this only benefitted me until I went to the grave.

Best of all, I have hope that only can come from someone who loves me and accepts me, warts and all.

They risk losing their minds! However, that will not happen because belief in god is a matter of faith; it is not based upon intellect but rather upon emotion. Therefore, the nonexistence of god will never be proved in such a manner as to persuade believers to abandon their faith. The nonexistence of a creator is difficult if not impossible to prove, even through scientific theory. If nontheists' views are, in fact, correct, theists will never learn that truth, for they will simply cease to have awareness when they die.

Nothing I suppose. Except for the 10 % of their salary they donate to the Church, a waste of a lot of time and some problems with the ego ...knowing you tried to convert so many, and judged so many and were wrong

the atheist view is dying...that's all. Absolutely nothing to adhere to.
"If" Christians are wrong, we are in the same boat as the atheists. Absolutely nothing left.
When we die permanently, there is no way to return to what we had. It is the "possibility" of eternal life that comes into play. Atheists are not looking for this, Christians hold this belief.

I lose nothing, atheists lose eternity on a chance that God, who they never look for anyway, does not exist.

They lose nothing....they just receive education and enlightenment and move on to the next level of understanding. God is a parent of love and kindness....we live forever learning to be the best we can be....learning to live in total love and understanding. There is no right or wrong...just education and love on going forever...our goal is to be a fill force creator like our own in total love and peace.

I'm not a Christian, but I have to say I do agree that they lose nothing for being wrong. We're ALL wrong. I'm wrong, you're wrong, and everyone who breathes is wrong . . . because honestly, nobody knows with 100% certainty what the actual truth is. One thing I do believe, is that 'God', whomever or whatever 'God' may actually be, will be much more merciful than any of us even imagine . . . that all paths, regardless what kind of path, be it spiritual or otherwise, lead to personal enlightenment and a true understanding of our existence. I just hope I get there soon! lol
