Really, I'd like an answer on this one.... Otherwise, no one can use the Bible as an argument. You might "feel" God, but I don't !

The names and dates that kings in the Bible existed and ruled and the countries they ruled are historically accurate. Wars fought, won and lost are historically accurate. The succession of world powers starting with Babylon through Rome are historically accurate even though fortold in advance. Even the name of the conqueror of Babylon was fortold in advance and was historically accurate. The succession of kings of Israel is historically accurate. The rain cycle spoken of in the Bible is scientifically accurate when it was not known when written. The fact that the earth is a sphere spoken of in the Bible is scientifically accurate even though not thought so at the time of it's writing by the majority of people, even during the middle ages. The scientific fact that the Bible mentions stars differ from stars in their glory, yet at the time of it's writing people did not know there were different kinds of stars, they all just look like bright lights in the night sky.

It would be impossible to prove that the bible is based on fact. However, some things in the bible ARE fact, take a look at this:

What Jesus says in the Bible, He delivers. Any true Christian can tell you that.

My experience is not based on feelings, it's based on fact. A decrease in my daily sin, and an increase in my practical righteousness.

It's just like God promises to us wicked sinners who believe in Jesus Christ and the penalty He paid for our sins, the wrath of God that Christ absorbed for my transgressions, and the newness of life he offers having been raised from the dead.

The Bible is like an epic.
It tells about the time but it isn't true. It seems to fit the following characteristics.

Epic: a long narrative poem in elevated stature presenting characters of high position in adventures forming an organic whole through their relation to a central heroic figure and through their development of episodes important to the history of a nation or race.

Epics have 6 main characteristics:

1. the hero is of imposing stature, of national or international importance, and of great historical or legendary significance
2. the setting is vast, covering many nations, the worlds or the universe
3.the action consists of deeds of great valor or requiring superhuman courage
4. supernatural forces--gods, angels, demons--interest themselves in the action
5. a style of sustained elevation is used
6. the poet retains a measure of objectivity

There are some facts in the bible, such as the mention of some ancient civilizations. Other than that, you might get answers about Noah's Flood (not actually fact...) or perhaps all those prophecies (yet to be proven true) and things of that nature.

So in short, the bible cannot be proven to be fact by any modern scientific standards, however, some people still take it as fact.

And what would constitute "proof"? Have you even bother to actually READ THE BIBLE yourself? Why not do that and see if it's convincing to you. What a concept!

So far, there is NO evidence that anything written in the Bible is based on fact. Thank you! Now I'm not the only one who feels this way!

Wow u people are dumb in my case... I am 13 years old and i can figure out this question. The Bible is based on faith of others living about 1970 years ago back then people needed faith to blame on why valcanoes erupted, or why earthquakes happend.. it gives us humans somthing to belive in. technickly there is no proof but the proof is ur faith. so to sume this up the bible is only true if u belive in it

My gut feeling (and a few years of research) tells me that a few bits here and there are based in fact, but as a whole its just mythology like any other off-the-wall grouping of gods and supernatural stuff.
