Or does he/she want to be followed strictly within his own church?

The church I attend from time to time used to have a quite excellent pastor. She was very well educated and encouraged people to think for themselves. When my parents found out that I was Pagan, my mom arranged for me to talk to Susan about it, and she told me that she was pleased that people in her church were thinking for themselves, only slightly disappointed that I had dealt with the issues by leaving Christianity. The pastor we have now... well, let's just say on Easter he gave a sermon against separation of church and state, and put a hellfire Baptist as the youth director (it's a Methodist church).
There are certainly both good and bad pastors.

I agree with royal racer... Alot of the so call'd chruches work with'n there own church, not many actulay combine under ttruth together as one united faith. Pretty much why there is such a wide range of christian religions with there own practice. Funny how ALL these religions proclaim ONE God yet can't seem to agree on the one God concept.

Nothing against Christians Its not there fault they cant get along with other sectors of christians.. And im sure im ****'n some off right now. But its true.. just look around and its there. Arguments over whos got the best God or whos got teh "right" way. No wonder there is NO peace.. Religon has everyone trapt in its web.

Agian this is not to be rude or mean.

Rammie, As a Wiccan I am my own Priest (pastor), and we have NO scripture other than our OWN Books of Shadow. So we would have a very hard time dictating what others can and should believe.

Now prayer is another thing entirely. Those of us who DO pray DO tend to have our spiritual lives developed through our prayers and meditations.

Yes my pastors do. They want us to become mature Christians. And they encourage to see the truth through prayer and scripture.

It is a sad commentary but that is the reason I no longer attend church services on a regular basis. My experiences have been that they all seem intent on fortifying their own beliefs instead of searching the scriptures for the truth and you dare not question them. I do however continue to visit different churches from time to time.

Yes. Christian growth and maturity is a central element where I attend worship service.
