Is there a lot of taste difference. Especially canned or bottled from the store. Which one has a milder taste? Thanks!

Brown gravy comes from a brown stock. You can roast chicken, fish or beef bones to create this brown color. Beef gravy is made from beef broth or stock. I have to agree with the other answer pan gravies are the best way to go. However as a home cook I use broths with reduced sodium because it takes typically hours to make a good beef or chicken stock. I would keep in mind what your protein is. if it is fish, chicken or beef you should serve a sauce made from the appropriate stock.

Are you buying the gravy or making it? Beef gravy will be brown and beef flavored. Brown gravy may or may not be beef flavored. If you make brown gravy the old fashioned way then you brown the flour before you make the gravy, hence the brown color. It could be flavored with just salt or salt and butter if butter is the fat, or any flavor you choose.

Store ones are usually heavy on salts and preservatives .
Just save your drippings , add some flour and season to taste if you want the thick or just go with the Au jus if you like the pure flavors .
AVOID the store prepped stuff !
