if you like the shrimp in Chinese restaurants then follow this:
wash your shrimp, boil the water with some salt in it. The shrimp takes only a couple of minutes; as soon as it turns pink, left it out, do not rinse: while it still hot, put some freshly ground pepper and drizzle a little butter over it and enjoy!

First, sounds simple, but make sure the frozen shrimp isn't already cooked...most often when it's frozen in the bag, it is.
Shrimp cooks super fast, so I'd steam versus boil it...if you over cook it, it will be rubbery and chewy. Shrimp starts out greyish, and turns pink...that's how you know it's done. It just take a few minutes.
Besides boiling and steaming, sauteed is also tasty. Saute it in a little minced garlic and butter...stirring it quickly, and it will take 3-5 minutes tops.

1 1/2 lb. raw, peeled, cleaned shrimp, fresh or frozen
1 qt. water
2 tbsp. salt
Sauce of choice
Thaw frozen shrimp. Combine water and salt; bring to a boil. Place shrimp in boiling water and simmer for approximately 3 to 5 minutes. Drain. Rinse with cold water. Serve with sauce.
NOTE: If cooking rock shrimp, simmer for only 1/2 to 1 minute, depending on size.

try using old bay seasoning...
cook the shrimp in water and vinegar and old bay...you don't need to thaw the shrimp just put it in a pot and follow the recipe (also found on the Old Bay wepage ...)
STEAMED SHRIMP:
1/2 cup vinegar
1 tablespoon OLD BAY SEASONING
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup water
1 pound shrimp
In saucepan, combine first 4 ingredients. Bring to a boil. Add shrimp, stir gently. Cover; steam until tender, about 5 minutes. Drain, remove shells and vein on back.

You can do either, but steaming would be better.
Set up a pot with a little bit of boiling water.
Put you r shrimp in a strainer over the pot
Cover the strainer.
It wont take long to cook. Once they are orange they are done.
It is that simple if you don;t want anything on them

Bring 2 cups water to a rapid boil. Add 2 tbs. cajun ( Tony Casheres) seasoning and 1/2 cup vinegar. Turn off heat, add 1 lb. shrimp and let simmer 3-5 min or until pink. Drain, and chill, and serve with cosktail sauce sans peel. Enjoy!!!

Shrimp, like mushrooms, shrink and disappear after a few minutes of cooking .
Boil just until they turn pink then take out immediately !
Never cook with salt as it makes food tough and harder to season later .
Just season however you want as you eat them .

Basically it takes exactly ZERO minutes to cook pre-cooked shrimp. It's PRE-cooked, get it? All you have to do, if you want to eat them hot, is to heat them up to serving temperature, which should only take seconds (certainly less than 30 seconds). Pre-cooked shrimp are perfectly fine to eat cold, too.
