Would you be rude or offended if I kindly asked you to consider getting to know the Lord Jesus Christ ? Cause I'm asking .

Some of you never even really, really got to know Him . And I can't think of any reason why you wouldn't at least want to know .
And I know that some of you have already thought you knew the Lord Jesus Christ , but somehow became disenchanted or felt betrayed . My friend , if this is you then I ask you to try again . Try . It wasn't God who betrayed you. . . . .it was bad or evil that you were betrayed by . Maybe another Christian / Sinner ? Maybe through a false teacher ? Maybe yourself ?
But it wasn't Jesus .

There you have it . No forcing anything down anyone's throats . No pontificating or judgment either . Just a request .
Thank you and God Bless .

........And you are absolutely right. I have been through the same situation and still go through it with my congregation at church. I attend a small church and the older folks are so focused on the youth and what we do wrong not remembering that they were once young before and made the same mistakes that we make today and they judge and become hypocrites and young folks such as myself dont tend to react well to that type of stuff. They think that the younger generation is lost but it is a lot of the older generations leading us into dispair, but if we just continue to trust who holds the promise, which is Jesus, then we will be greater and lead the older ones into the right direction and show them the way. Jesus is so forgiving, understanding, meek, and knows what we suffer. I had to learn to keep my eye on him as I am still learning everyday. Thank you for your message. I know that the holy spirit lead you to give this message. God Bless You and continue to spread the message. GOD WORKS!!!!

Would You Be Rude To Someone Who Asked. . ...... .?

Would you be rude or offended if I kindly asked you to consider getting to know the Goddess? Cause I'm asking .

Some of you never even really, really got to know Her . And I can't think of any reason why you wouldn't at least want to know .
And I know that some of you have already thought you knew the the Goddess , but somehow became disenchanted or felt betrayed . My friend , if this is you then I ask you to try again . Try . It wasn't the Goddess who betrayed you. . . . .it was bad or evil that you were betrayed by . Maybe a Christian preacher? Maybe through a false witness ? Maybe yourself ?
But it wasn't the GOddess

There you have it . No forcing anything down anyone's throats . No pontificating or judgment either . Just a request .
Thank you and Goddess Bless .

Pre-e-e-pare ye the way of the Lady.

I have turned the question around ? Did you think that was rude ? Are you going to give serious consideration to the Goddess, or if that is too much of change, would you at least consider looking into the concept of a God AND a Goddess?

If you felt that this question was rude, then consider the golden rule.

If you aren't willing to seriously consider the divine feminine, then ask yourself why anyone else should consider YOUR belief system.

was raised a christian, went to church school, read the bible, did the whole 9 yards. and then i decided to look deeper, and find answers to the question i had. i never could accept the idea of the divinity of jesus, it just has never rung true for me. i'm not sure if the man ever lived or not, but that's not something i lose sleep over. it's a non-issue in my life. the way i see it, belief in the divinity of the man is central to the faith, if you don't believe, then you're not a christian.

i became jewish over 30 years ago. it's been more spiritually satisfying than christianity ever could be. it has more of an internal integrity to it, and less 'spin'

that being said, i believe in the messiah, but before you get all excited, i don't believe that jesus was that messiah. there were specific tests that the messiah was supposed to pass, and jesus didn't pass even one. so, while you can believe that he was the messiah, i know that he wasn't.

and, i do have a question: what did god, jesus, and all the rest do for so many centuries before you were born? i mean if they need a spin-meister like you, how did they manage for so long?
now, that was asked in all respect and love, so i would hope that you wouldn't be offended.

i mean, if you don't judge me, i'll return the favor, if you do, then i'll do the same right back atcha!!!!

and, btw, i am prepared for 'the way of the lord', evidently, it's not the same one as you, though.

As an atheist...

No, I wouldn't be offended in the slightest. However, I'd need rational evidence like every single other thing I believe needs evidence, and I don't think there is anything remotely convincing. I'm quite willing to change my views in light of new evidence which is convincing.
However: This is what most Christians believe today:
* In the time of the ancestors, a man was born to a virgin mother with no biological father being involved.

* The same fatherless man called out to a friend called Lazarus, who had been dead long enough to stink, and Lazarus promptly came back to life.

* The fatherless man himself came alive after being dead and buried three days.

* Forty days later, the fatherless man went up to the top of a hill and then disappeared bodily into the sky.

* If you murmur thoughts privately in your head, the fatherless man, and his “father” (who is also himself) will hear your thoughts and may act upon them. He is simultaneously able to hear the thoughts of everybody else in the world.

* If you do something bad, or something good, the same fatherless man sees all, even if nobody else does. You may be rewarded or punished accordingly, including after your death.

* The fatherless man’s virgin mother never died but “ascended” bodily into heaven.

* Bread and wine, if blessed by a priest (who must have testicles), “become” the body and blood of the fatherless man.
(said by Richard Dawkins)

This goes against all common sense and rationality. Also, religion is very dangerous; look at the Iraq war, just as one of the hundreds of conflicts religion is involved in.
I've only scratched the surface of how terrible and counterproductive religion is...
In light of all of this, I can't say that I would be able to believe in Christianity without a lot of hard work on the Christians part to reevaluate their faith. But it's possible.

Every knee Will bow and every tongue will confess that he is Lord.
You may think that you are strong in whatever situation you are in but when you see Jesus coming in the Cloud's of heaven your knees will give away and you will cry for the rocks and mountains to fall on you to hide you from his face.
If you think that someone is forcing this down your throat you will be glad they did at that time.
What did Jesus do to you that you are so down on him. He made a way that you can escape hell and all you have to do is ask him into your heart. How will you escape if you neglect so great a salvation as this. Your heart is just harden for some reason but you will stand before God for yourself and not for another. What ever you have against someone else will not help you then you are on your own. Would not you rather have a savior standing there with you then. Why do you listen to Satan he does not care for you his job is to steal, kill and destroy. don't let him steal your soul. Thank about it.

I try never to be rude anyone in general no matter what the subject matter. As to your specific point. No I would not be rude, nor would I be offended. Just so long as you show the same decorum when I tell you that while I do believe in God, I do not accept the bible, or the teachings of any organized religion. I was involved in the church when I was younger, but I found that I was not able to rectify their positions with what I believed to be true. So while I do know what the church is all about, I just cannot accept them as an authority for spiritual guidance in my life.

Hi Earnest, I was really surprised at the venom poured out on your posting. The negative answers and I don't mean the couple that politely declined. All of them had the opportunity to click on something else or just hit the back button, but felt compelled to answer in an offensive way.
I suppose the answer to your question is that Yes, they would be offended and, yes, they would be rude.
Years ago, I observed an interesting phenomenon in humans. If a person who is guilty is accused, they get angry. If an innocent person is accused, they patiently try to explain to you why you are mistaken.
I think the venomous ones are afraid they might be wrong and are lashing out at being called on being wrong. I just don't understand the attitude of people who seem to believe that not believing somehow absolves them of any responsibility. Do they really think that at judgment day, they can merely say, "Well, I didn't believe." How is that going to make a difference?
I am not sure that the organized churches have it absolutely correct about each and every nuance of God or of Christianity. But I believe that God exists and Christianity is the closest thing to the way. I do believe the bible explains, though not in great detail, how people who never heard about Christ will have their opportunity to hear and be saved.
Earnest, now you have your prayer list, let us pray that God will speak to each person's heart and that the seed you planted will grow into a real desire to learn the truth.
Praise be unto God.

I was a Christian for many years. I have a degree from a Christian University in Theology and Pastoral Counseling. I have worked in three churches and I have spent most of my adult life involved in working with people with disabilities.

Even with all of that, I still tried, for years to have the personal faith you describe.

The Sunday after 9/11 the pastor of the evangelical church I attended as a member said some very nasty, ugly things and said that God would punish the Muslims for attacking God's nation. It suddenly clicked -

You see, I now fully believe two things about Christianity: The Christians of today have perverted the faith to be what it was never called to be - - and - - that if God is loving, He or She will not send His or Her creation to Hell.

Christianity, when you truly understand it, and when you let it really bring you to the light - proves that it is not a true faith. It is illogical and manipulative.

Thank you for asking in a kind way. I will respond kindly instead of the rude way that I usually do.
I was a VERY VERY devout Christian for many years (26 or so).
I am not sure why I decided that I wanted to read the Bible for myself, instead of letting the preacher interpret it for me. It was kind of like one of those car wrecks that is totally gruesome but "You Just Have to Look" I read it cover to cover 3 times and then about twice more with reference and study guides as well as a history book as well. Needless to say that I was appalled.
Losing my mother was the final kick in the butt that opened my eyes.
I began to look at other religions and what they believed and the main question that kept coming to my mind was
"What if ___ religion is right and Christianity is wrong?"
It was a heartbreaking decision to come to the conclusions that I have reached. But until I have a tangible answer I will continue to believe in nothing religious.
Thank you for caring though.

Earnest, I have to be really honest with you. I am extremely confused. Here, in R&S, you are talking about Christ. Clearly, you both believe in Him (and I would assume that includes His teachings), and love Him. If you didn't, you wouldn't be putting yourself out there as a target for those who do not believe.

So here's the rub, and it's a question I have been puzzling about for a very long time, as in months, not days or weeks: Why do you sow dissention and bad feelings in your posts in the Politics forum?

"Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God."
(Matthew 5:9, KJV--as I am sure you know, that is one of the Beatitudes from Christ's Sermon on the Mount.)

You come here as a man of peace, yet in the other forum, you sow discord and bad feelings. How does that work, exactly? You are unkind in general to Liberals, though generally not to specific individuals, unless they fire the first shot, and that's good, as it shows some restraint. But how does creating tension and bad feelings, at all, fit in with your faith? I would really love to see you address that in another one of your questions, or, if you prefer, in a private mail to me.

And since you kindly asked for an answer, I will give you one. No, I would not be offended. I do know Him, thank you. I have never been betrayed by God. I have read of Him, and his desires for us, in many Holy Books, and not just the Bible. As I feel a person's relationship, or lack of one, with the Divine Creator is sacrosanct, and not subject to discussion or judgement from other people, I will leave it at that. You have chosen to explain your feelings. You will forgive me if I choose to not explain mine, for they are private and precious to me.
