In Mark 6:49 some translations say "spirit" and some say "ghost". Jesus said not to be afraid-that it was he. This more or less indicates that it was possible that they couldve seen a spirit or ghost except in this case it was Jesus and not the former? He doesnt say where is your faith and why are you afraid of spirits and/or ghosts?
So what of the spirit or ghosts?
Is it possible that the Holy Spirit known also as Holy Ghost makes differentiation of spirit and ghost by the authoritative use of "Holy"?
I just want to know the Biblical references regarding spirits and ghosts.

The Greek word used for Holy Spirit did mean Spirit. The closest Greek word to Ghost was Phantasma (phantom) and it is only used twice I believe, one when Jesus walked on water and the disciples thought it was a ghost, and the other when Jesus appeared to the disciples after the crucifixion and they thought it to be a ghost. But in both cases they found ou tit was NOT a ghost but a tangible physical person.

Also the word phantasma is interesting because in both cases it is used when the authors thought their eyes were playing tricks on them.

Simply put, there are not ghosts mentioned in the Bible, nor is the Holy Spirit accurately translated as "Holy Ghost".

I am not 100% sure what you are asking. Jesus has compassion when we are afraid of him. In the first place Jesus has no reason to say where is your faith just because he looked supernatural. I think Spirit or Ghost is in reference to a singular entity that they came from. The possibility of the term Holy is to describe a Spirit or Ghost doing the good work of God. I say read or scan the bible for references because it is all over the place.

whenever you get baptized, it says in the bible that u recieve the holy siprit>>>which is another word for holy ghost...they r both the same. That is why when u get baptized the preecher says, "i baptize you in the name of the father, and of the son and of the holy spirit>>or holy ghost. rember u will only recieve it when u r baptized and u will have it for ever...so basicaly what it is , is a feeling, it comferts you i cant explain it but it is a like a blessing a reassurence a promise...because u have to have that in order to get to heaven...of course their a lot of other stuff that god requires but if u r obedient and have faith, obey all commendments then the baptizim secures it...it say it in the bible...

Now about actual ghosts... people think they are actual spirts in the"after ~ life" or "trapped spirits" , or "people that passed away and they r looking after you, restless spirits" whatever thay make up, you get my flow....no they are actually demonds...mmmm, why would demonds take on the image of a loved on that has died or lived or what ever? so they can decieve you, confuse you.... that is the reason they r here that is why satan is here he is the "author of confusion". so people that claim to speak to ghost, and actually say things that a familiar that the dead person used to be or say, that is a demond speaking and decieving....so dont Plz dont believe that stuff....

First of all, just because Jesus refuted their fear that He was a ghost does not logically mean He was saying that ghosts indeed exist. He knew what they were thinking and He wanted to calm their fears.

As for the actual existence of ghosts, my belief is yes and no. No, I do not believe that some dead people exist in a state of limbo in which they are "ghosts" as popularly conceived. However, I do believe that there are real demons (demonic spirits, a.k.a. fallen angels) who masquerade as "dead people ghosts" in order to deceive people and lead them into the occult or cause them fear and distress.

The Holy Spirit, a.k.a. The Holy Ghost, is not a ghost in either of the above senses of the word. God is one triune God: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus), and God the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit comes and lives inside every person who personally accepts Jesus as Lord.

Ecclesiastes 9:4 For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion.
5 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.
6 Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun.

So the theory of ghost absolutely not, as you see the bible clearly states the dead are exactly that. I agree with Rella as far as demons masquerading as ghosts.

there are no spirits and no ghosts. It doesn't matter what if anything it says in the bible. If anyone found something, he wouldn't understand what the writer meant when he wrote it anyway. When he wrote it, men still believed the world was flat, so why would you think that they would get anything else right?

No such things as ghost only angelic baby sitters, cosmic Jewish zombies rising from the dead, and a wish granting bearded man in the sky.

First of all think for a minute. If you believe in Angels then you know they are messengers of God. They are obedient to God. But when Lucifer fell from heaven one third of the angels fell with him. Lucifers angels are not obedient to God. They do things that God forbids his angels to do. I believe in ghost... they are Lucifer's or Satans little demons running amok on earth. But they dont exactly have their way all the time Gods angels battle them on your behalf
