Personally, I always thought that polyester green uniform and the shirt underneath it was ugly as sin, but I also think this might make the Army look too much like the other services.
If you don't know what the current uniform looks like, here it is:

Here is the Dress Blue that will replace all dress uniforms:

Is it a good switch? Or, better yet, should we have gone back to the old WW2 Full Tan uniform?

I think it looks way better, but I personally think they should issue them instead of making us pay for them out of or own pockets. It really pissed me off when I had to buy the new PT's and new Soldiers were being issued them. People would say well you get a clothing allowance, that is true but they did not raise it until a year after the wear out date of the gray pt's.

The Blues have tradition going back to the Civil War.
I just hope they have some heavier pants. My blues the jacket wa heavy but my legs were always cold.
I had a TW Khaki Uniform in Vietnam that was the sharpest ever.

No, blue doesnt go with the Army, its Navy and airforce , The army should go back to the pink and tans of the or the tans of the 40s-760s, they looked nice, dignified, and was distinctive. the blue is just awkward for the Army, is the Navy going to Red? what the point of the blue?

The polyester green wasn't great. I like the blues and the first continental army had blue coats so I think the colors are fitting. My favorite is still the old Eisenhower Jackets...

first of all '''' the army had a dress blue uniform for yrs. It was used for formal functions. You had to buy the uniform. Mostly non commissioned officers and officers bought them.It was not issued them like the Army dress greens were.

I like the Blue (and it's Federal Blue by the way) it has history and I think it looks better.
I would prefer a more military jacket as opposed to the lapel.
I hope we drop the Bus Driver hat for everyday wear and instead have a Garrison hat or even the beret.

Yeah, I thought the old uniform was ugly as well. By the way, the two pictures you posted were the same.
But I get your point. I kind of like the new uniform, looks better than that weird Marines uniform.

I already bought my blues and I don't even have greens any more. The old greens sucked and they used to piss me off by changing the shade of green every couple of years to force you to buy a new set. I hope to have a bonfire of old greens once they are not longer servicable.

it's late at night, but I think there should be a pretty good reason to spend that much money on something. Personally, I don't think the color matters. It's what's inside that defines the man.
