It seems to me that people nowadays are either together for just a little bit before they're engaged or together for a really long time before their engaged. Same goes for the actual engagement. Some for two years or more and some for just a few months to a year. Married and engaged folks, what are your numbers. Just curious.

My fiance and I were together 7 months before we got engaged... and we are having about a 13 month engagement :) so when we get married we will have been together for over a year and a half. He is the man of my dreams. When you know, you know. For some people, the timing just isn't right. Everything has just fallen into place for us.

I just got married a month ago. We were together for 2 years before we got engaged and then were engaged for 15 years. From my experience, the older the couple, the longer the engagement. I think that it is because there are more considerations such as grown children, financial considerations, ownership of property and past relationship issues. We are in our 50's and after talking to many couples that we know who are around our age, this seems to be the norm since most of them have been together for several years.

My fiancee and I were together for 13 months when we got engaged and are having an 11 month engagement. We'll have been together 2 years when we get married, I'm 28 and he's 27 so I think that's about the right amount of time...for us anyway!!

We had a long distance relationship the whole time before marrying.

We dated for one week short of a year before becoming engaged and we were engaged 1 1/2 years before marrying.

We have been married since May 18,2007 and it is AWESOME!

We had been together for 4 years and 9 months before he proposed. Our engagement was for 6 months before we got married. Story is: we were together for the first 2 years and then he lost his job and didn't want to get married until he was back on his feet. He found a job but it wasn't steady so we waited. We've been through the bad times and the good so finally we both decided it was time to tie the knot.
