i highly doubt that most women who get married for the first time are virgins, but they still wear white. it's your wedding and you should wear whatever color makes you feel the most beautiful.
i wouldn't base your decision on your past - because you are moving on to a brand new life. your fiance knows about the previous relationship, and he is obviously okay with it. to me, that seems like that should be the only thing that matters. he loves you and he wants to be your husband. in the end, that's what counts the most.

I would go with a very light ivory wedding gown, not the pure diamond white. This is so appropriate and will make you feel very comfortable. Also, your fiance's parents do not have to know anything about your past or previous relationships. That is none of their business. If you fiance is O.K. with it, that is all what counts. This is your first marriage and you are entitled to have the ivory or white perfect dress and the wedding of your dreams.
I would go with a more simpler style wedding gown. Maybe a sheath look or A-line. Not alot of fru fru and frills. Something modern and simple with a simple style with maybe a little beading on the bodice area. Try maggiesottero.com, alfredangelo.com, and bridalchalet.com. Bridalchalet has really beautiful beautiful gowns and lots in ivory. Also netbride.com too. Go with a beautiful very long veil. As far as your bouquet I would use ivory roses with just a touch of green ivy intertwined and maybe a white orchid in the center. These should be wrapped tightly with an ivory satin ribbon. Bridal party should have simple gowns to compliment yours. Whatever you do, don't chose black as the bridesmaids color. It is so depressing and morbid and looks terrible in photos. theknot.com is a great site for lots of ideas for brides. It even shows wedding gowns, favors, hairstyles, bouquets and wedding cakes and much more. Good luck to you and congratulations.

I don't think the question of virginity even comes to mind anymore when people see a bride in a white dress. I think color only becomes an issue for second marriages and since you weren't actually married in your previous relationship, despite its length, I don't think you should feel constrained by any sort of rules about the color of your dress. Furthermore, his parents' views shouldn't factor into your decision at all-- I doubt your fiance is a virgin so what right would they have to deny you your white dress. It is your day, after all.

If you really want to wear white go with it, it doesn't matter about the past. You know why? Because you told your fiance w/ confidence that you aren't a virgin. But don't be forced into it. People aren't always bound to virginity, but they do usually wear white, because it makes any girl look beautiful and dazzling. However, to jazz it up to your style add a little pazaz by maybe ruffles or make it a bit sassy with a bit of shortness. They probably have some good wedding ideas on stylenetwork.com

White is an appropriate color for all weddings -- very few people are still virgins at their weddings and so it's acceptable to wear white no matter what. The only reason the color of your dress should matter is if you feel that a different shade would compliment your skin tone, hair or eye color better.

White only became popular because Queen Victoria wore white, before then brides wore dresses of various colours, white was expensive because not many people could afford to keep it clean. Oh how I wish Victoria had worn a coloured dress and then girls now would not be under all this pressure lol.....wear white if that is what you want to wear, only Christians or religious people view white as a virginal colour (I am not being insulting to them, but it is true).

times have changed greatly over the years and most brides to be are not virgin anymore. there is nothing wrong with wearing white at all. however if you have not chosen your dress for sure, try several colors on. various styles as well. if you are paler complected most times pure white will wash you out. if this is the case then ivory or champagne looks best for your skin tone. so try on the different colors and then chose.

Hon, if only virgin brides wore white on their wedding day, the sale of white gowns would plummet dramatically! White is a perfectly fine color for every bride who looks good in white. (If white's too stark for them, ivory or diamond white (sort of a cross between white and ivory) will do. If you want to wear white, go for it! And I think your parents should step out of the dark ages.
