Two men go to a pet store to buy a dog each. in the store, a sign says Dalmatians - 8 dollars. Cocker Spaniels - 9 dollars. Golden Retrievers - 10 dollars. The first man walks in and puts 10 dollars on the counter. The guy at the counter asks him which dog he would like, and the man tells him he wants a cocker spaniel. the clerk hands him the puppy, and he walks away. The second man walks in, and puts 10 dollars on the counter. the clerk then wordlessly picks out a golden retriever puppy. How did he know what dog the man wanted?

ok people the answer is this - the first man put down a 10 dollar bill so he could have wanted the 8, 9, or 10 dollar dog. the second man put down a five dollar bill and 5 one dollar bills, showing he obviously wanted the 10 dolar dog, otherwise he would have taken away a dollar or two.

The second guy put down a fiver and 5 one - dollars. OR ten one - dollars. So there is no doubt what he wanted.

They were out of the other two breeds of dog. The first man bought the last Cocker.

Melon Head-Your name says it all doesn't it. See the sign says the price of the dogs. I assume there were no dalmatians to begin with. Then there was 1 Cocker Spaniel, the first person bought the Cocker Spaniel. So, that leaves only Golden Retreivers for anyone to purchase.

The store had one cocker spaniel and several golden retrievers, but had sold out of dalmations. The first customer bought the cocker spaniel, so there were only golden retrievers left.
