will geodon cause me to gain weight or lose hair like other antipsychotics?

i've been on zyprexa for about 6 years and gained alot of weight. also, my hair is very thin now. i bought special shampoo and scalp treatment for that.

Of all of the A-typcials, Geodon causes the least weight gain. It is considered weight neutral. As for the hair, that is rare, but it can happen. But you can gain weight on any of them.

The weight gain goes in this order from worst to best.

1. Zxprexa
2. Risperdal
3. Seroquel
4. Abilify
5. Geodon

That is what the studies show.

With Geodon watch the irregular heart beat, issue. Not as bad as first reported, but still there.

All in all pro ably the best A-typcial to tolerate.

Unfortunately, Geodon causes weight gain but not like Zyprexa. I don't think it causes hair loss either. Ask your doctor about Abilify. It doesn't seem to be as bad as the other atypical anti-psychotics regarding weight gain.

If you have been taking Zyprexa for 6 years, wow, that stuff can be hard on a body.

The side effects depend on the person. I haven't heard a lot about weight gain and Geodon though. Good luck.

It varies from person to person. The only way to know what side effects you'll experience is to try it. If the side effects are more than you can handle you and your doctor can try something else. Personally, Geodon merely made me constantly nauseous. I didn't stay on it for long because of that.

i take geodon and so far i dont think i gained any weight but when on seroquel i gained a bunch of weight.i dont know much about hair loss side effects though.

i have taken geodon and for me it did cause weight gain. i didnt have a hair loss problem though. if u are worried about wieght gainh have you considered other medications?
