That's just five reasons right there. Major medical treatment centers that were closed for good at the end of the Cold War. There are others as well. How much did you scream when the Base Realignment and Closures Commission recommended the closing of those facilities? Or were you too busy celebrating the "peace dividend"?

As someone said no one planned for anything. The war part of the Iraq invasion went well. After that the people were all supposed to love us and it was going to be good duty. That's what Rumsfeld thought. The VA by the way is dependent on assessments and forecasts from the military medical departments for it's planning.

LOL....since when in the history of wars has that been considered? Every war brings back something new and so you are working with unknowns. If you want to blame the VA for not being all knowing then go for it. This is just another whine out of the liberals. What do you think we should do, put our china doll soldiers on a shelf and never use them? jeez...

Fist, they do have plans for returning troops, the problem is that nobody ever expected the amount of service members to be what they are, this war was never expected to go on this long...it has nothing to do with Mr.Bush not wanting to give support to our troops

These problems are a unknown factor of war, each war has a new set of problems to deal with and until we find out just what they are we can't have things set up to care for them.

Vet-USAF 44MMS

They have not due to the fact that in past wars people did not survive these kinds of injuries.

Honey no one in their right mind wanted to be put in this situation wether it was the President of the United States or the American people. Bad things happen with this stuff goes on. You just have to pray. God is in control and he sent Jesus his son now Jesus and his Holy Spirit that control the universe. God knows there is good and bad out there. There are struggles that we all have to face on a daily basis? sure. "You have to be strong in the word." Why can't people on earth realise that the real battle "is not of the flesh." It's angels against demonic entities. Please accept Jesus into your life. These groups that america is facing are plaine demonic and diabolical groups and deserve no mercy tell they change their ways Amen.

the only plan that Bush and the boys have made is that there was no plan of course for the boys to come back from iraq there was no plan to care for the wounded mental or physical just a plan to keep them coming back to the effort

Are you in the military...I think not ,or you wouldn't ask such a dumb question.

There are chaplains and doctors assigned to every military unit I was ever attached to.

There are classes ( mandatory ) debriefings from every stage of redeployment that deals with this exact issue. Veterans hospitals in every state in the union....

Study your facts before you put such misleading crap on the web...that's just what the liberal press does. Prints crap!

The neocon morons who planned the invasion of Iraq never expected us to have so many casualties. They thought the war would be over quickly, which it was, and that we would be greeted as liberators. Well, they were half right. They never planned for having over 10,000 troops with serious injuries, and thousands more with mental problems. Idiots!
