Depends on the battle Field. Japan didn't have a good tank design, supply or strategy. Germany's power was tank strategy.
On the other hand Germany didn't have a very good navy. That's why they stuck to hiding and hitting supplies. Even then, the survival rate of German uboat seamen was the lowest of all German forces. Japan had a more powerful fleet.
I am leaning a bit more toward Japan. From what I said above, they didn't have strong tank forces because they didn't need it. Fighting on islands, and mostly forces that didn't have many tanks against them either. But Germany wanted and tried to be a Naval force in the beginning of the war, and was quickly shut down.

Germany had a larger more powerful military. The Japanese had some bad trends in their defensive strategies. Fighting in place without withdrawing due to possible loss of face is not a good idea generally. The Germans did have to cope with the ridiculous Fuhrer befehls (orders) which had no relationship to reality by the end of the war. I have read that the German NCO corps was one of the most professional in the history of warfare. Good NCOs can make a an army far more effective, bad ones can break an army. I think if Hitler hadn't placed such a stupid emphasis on making the ME-262 a bomber instead of a fighter for much of its life it could've been a real factor in any conflict. The Germans lack of a strategic 4 engine long-distance bomber also held them back. I do think the Japanese were a formidable foe for anyone, but the Germans would've prevailed in a direct one one one conflict.

Germany, no question. Not only was the Third Reich technologically superior, Germany had the resources needed to wage war, such as oil, that Japan lacked other than through importing. And while Germany did have to import some items, such as manganese for tank and artillery barrels, most of the needed resources the Reich lacked in could be found either in neutral countries (such as Sweden for steel) or could be found in coutries they had conquered or were on at least speaking terms with. Japan on the other hand, was pretty well universally hated, and its trading partners were few and far between.

Germany, not much of a contest. the US only put 1/4 of its war effort in defeating them in WWII up until may of 1945, then when it was all pretty much ove the focus swithced fully to Japan. the Japanese knew they could not win, they made a grave error in thinking the US would roll over and give up after Pearrl Harbor, the US might today with our Nation hating Press and liberals, but back then it just got the ball rolling and it didn't stop until it was done. Japan had less than 1/4 the german Aircraft, and they where vast inferior to the germans superior Messersmidts and folke wulfs, also the Japanese only less tha n150 submarines in WWII, the Germans had over 700. the Japanese had more capital combat ships, and had about 9 Aircraft carriers to the germans one incomplete one,. the Japanese had practically no armor units, and the few tanks (about 400) they had where in groups of 45 or 6, and where light duty and none larger than a 57mm gun. the germans had over 25,000 tanks and most had 88mm guns, and had heavy armour. the Hand guns of the Germans where very superior to any of the allies guns until the end of the war, and the japanese side arms where outdated and most from the 1920s era of design. as to Units for combat the Germans had over 6,000,000 trained troops in the the first few years of the war, the Japanese had lessthan 2,000,000. the Germans where highly mobile with large land fleets of trucks and spupport equipment, the Japanese had no such system or force support vehicles to speak of, most where a few trucks assigned to each combat regiment. the japanese tore through china so easily because china had no modern military, most of its equipment was WWI era, it had an obsolete airforce of a few thousand biplanes and some worn out and poor quality old 1930 bombers, it' navy was all pre WWI, and wa a pretty backwards nation. Japan would have fallen in les than 6 months if it was an all out, toe to toe war, the Japanese had little reserves, and was stretched to far to do much more than drag things out in suicidal defencive battles against the US, who as I mentioned was not putting maximum effort into the pacific war, until they helped defeat the Nazis.

It depends if it was a primarily an air, land, or sea battle.
Air - Leans towards the Nazis. Simply had larger numbers of aircraft and greater technology than the Japanese.
Sea - Leans towards the Japanese. The Germans definitely had an advantage in regards to submarines, but they lacked the large surface fleet of the Japanese. Also and very importantly, the Japanese had a substantial carrier force while the Nazis never had an aircraft carrier.
Land - Depends where they are fighting. If they were fighting on flatter land, the Nazis would have a significant advantage because of their superior armored and mechanized forces. If you were fighting in mountainous or coastal terrain, the Japanese would have the advantage.
Interesting comparison.

Let's say UK and Russia finally surrendered to Germany and US signed peace treaty with both Axis Power.
Then............
The battlefield of German Vs Japan would be in Pakistan/Afghan and Siberia.
Naval power won't mean much, because this would be a gigantic land war.
Who will win? Likely German, Japs light tanks will be crushed by German's Panther and Tiger tanks.
Unless, Japs commanders able to force the battlefield on difficult terrains such as mountains and jungles.
In desert and plains, Japs won't have much chances, they would be obliterated by Germany army (Heer) power.

My answer is Germany.Just imagine if the Japps tried to take Normandy. They would have the navy to get them there. But they would need more than a banzai charge to do the job.Not only that,Germany had more deadly nerve agents, and were also very close to getting the atomic bomb. Not to mention, the Germans also were about to put the MP44 into mass production(the rifle Sergei Simmonov used to make the designs of the SKS).The Germans would have won,but it would not have been easy for them either.

Assuming Germany would have destroyed the Soviet Union as that is the only logical front they could fight on, and the Japanese Navy would have had to travel halfway around the world to be effective, the Germans would have also created a Nuke eventually, so the winner, Germany.

It would depend on what the definition of "victory" would be.
I couldn't see in 1945, German troops landing on Japanese shore's anymore than Japanese troops crossing the Rhine.
Tough call, Germany had a better Army and Air Force, but Japan had a far better Navy.

if the Nazi's would have won the war. There next victim would have been japan. With there white superiority complex, they could have never accepted an Asian race , as an equal. The Nazi's would have won, because they were the closest to developing nuclear weapon's.
