ok so...today: i usually just eat bread for breakfast with some tea and an apple, but the Life cereal was just...RIGHT THERE! i couldn't help myself! then at lunch, i ate a pretty petite healthy meal, but then 15 min later, i ate alot of fruit, bread, and lettuce!! i wasnt supposed to eat more! then around dinner, i ate another petite healthy meal...but then my mom was cooking this texas frozen garlic bread thingy and i couldn't resist eating one of them! so i did....so now i've calculated/got an idea of how much calories so far i've taken in today: 1040. but i have to drink milk before i go to sleep because my bones are weak. so if i hold off on eating until then, the total is 1170 calories.
if i eat just a little junk food(like the cereal and garlic bread) on "accident" will that be okay when i'm on a diet?
me info: female, 13 years old(tomorrow i'll turn 14), 110lbs, 5'6" and sedentary yet lightly active...am i healthy? cuz i look big/fat compared to other teen girls

everyone needs a treat otherwise you will go on a binge!

try treating yourself to something you enjoy every 7th day. that way you will keep the weight off and instead of just having something you enjoy you'll also feel like you've worked for it and deserve it..

hopefully i've helped.

Oh sweetie you are worrying WAY too much. For a start, you are very slim at 110lbs and 5'6".

And dieting isn't about obsessing over your calories - it's about choosing healthy options MOST of the time, enjoying junk occasionally and drinking lots of water.

You don't need to lose weight so don't count calories or beat yourself up over a bit of garlic bread. And if you really want to get rational with yourself, try this. How much did that piece of garlic bread weigh? A couple of grams? Well, if ALL of that garlic bread was converted to fat (which is impossible) then you would put on, at the most, a couple of grams. And considering how much you obsess about your food I would say NONE of it was stored. Your body was probably glad of the energy.

I would have thought for your age you should be getting 1200-1700 calories a day at least. Teenagers are growing and need more than an adult of the same height and weight.

Love yourself and look after yourself. You're not fat.

Sweetheart, if you look "big/fat" compared to other girls, it's probably because you're 13/14 :) You're at the age where your body stores up fat to redeposite into your breasts as they develop and at such a stage of active growth, you really need to NOT be limiting your calories like that. You can eat smart and control where your calories come from... lots of fruits and veggies and less candy and sodas and whatnot... while still taking in a healthy amount of food. For your size and weight, I'd say you're close to where you should be anyway :)

If you're convinced you need to do something about your size, rather than limit your food, talk to a nutrition expert about what's healthy for a girl your age and eat the right amount of food but increase your activity level. Take a martial arts class. Try dancing. Start running. Go swimming. Its almost always better to increase your activity level while eating smart than to stay sedentary and try to "diet."

Good use of the word sedentary, by the way!

You are only 14- have fun- eat what you like and forget about counting calories. Your body does alot of growing and changing at your age so maybe you are just developing faster than other girls your age. But that doesnt mean you are over-weight.

If you are determined to stay on your health kick. They recommend that you have one "bad day" a month where you can have your garlic bread and not feel guilty. If your diet is to strict and you do give in- it can lead to depression. Be happy and dont worry about your weight until you are older.

1: cereals and bread are not junk food. You need carbs to LIVE
2: you will grow with weakened muscles and bones due to the lack of fat, carbohydrates and PROTEIN in your diet
3: your minimum daily caloric intake must be around 1800, so you have lost weight that day.
4: your "petite healthy" meals cause you to be hungry then. they are almost as skipping foods, and that makes you even hungrier.
Go and do a sport and eat normally (1800 or 1600) with lots of protein and in less than 5 months you should be weighting 90 pounds, which is very skinny.

You are underweight, and need to seriously gain weight. It is unsafe to have under 1200 calories a day...and at your weight, I'd say you're an anorexic. Stop to think of the consequences...you are old enough to realize you're being stupid about this. Any more weight loss, and you could lose control of your body functions...your organs will stop working!! Your body can't support itself...and if you think you're fat...then you need to go see a counselor NOW. Trust me, you will regret having dedicated your life to being thin..I've been through anorexia, and I recognize the symptoms. You'll be a much happier person if you could simply stop obessessing.

When you cheat on your diet your metabolism will speed up because of the higher calorie intake but if you do it every day you will not reach your goals. The best way to keep from cheating is set one day a week and eat whatever you want all day, this will help with the cravings.

You don't need to lose weight, at your weight and height, you sound very thin.

Don't compare yourself to other girls. If you spend your life counting calories and dieting just to look like someone else, you will be miserable.

By the way, Happy Birthday!

You need help. I mean counseling. You have no self-esteem (based on your question history) and continue to ask about losing weight. You know you don't need to lose weight.

Get up away from the computer and find something else to do. You said it yourself---you have been spending WAY too much time in front of the computer. Go do something and stop weighing yourself.

You'll be fine. Just continue with your diet and don't overeat again.
