Roman by far
The Roman army was the most effective military force known up until the invention of gunpowder. The Han were a tremendous culture and had many achievements but were not as well know as say Feudal Japan or the Mongol horsemen.

If you placed them adjacent on some imagined world with no numerical or geographical advantages for either side, I think the Romans would first encroach upon, then finally conquer the Han.

BUT, I think the Romans would go on to adopt the art, learnign and culture of that empire, much as they did the greeks, and, in the end, Rome would be the one more altered by the conquest.

Romans. But their military history of greatness goes back further. Their epic wars with Hannibal and Carthage in the 200's BC were probably the most well fought in history.
The genius of Scipio and Hannibal Barca, along with their Armies was incredible.
I go with Rome...

Andrew...The Greeks kicked the Persians butt twice. And Rome conquered the Greeks.
Edge...Rome...

Great question dude...

B. Kevorkian....Awesome answer dude...

Han........

If you read "Three Kingdoms", you would understand the flexibility and cunning Chinese tactics.

Roman formation is disciplined and steady, but has less flexibility and quite predictable.

After a couple of battles, Han generals would understand the basics of Roman formation and tactics, and they would adjust their tactic accordingly.

Know yourself and Know your Enemy you would win every battles.

Persian Empire would kick both of their butts :) Between Roman and Chinese...I would say Romans would triumph.

Ken you are wrong! Persian defeated Greeks once and they defeated Persians once. Guess who put fire to Acropolis. Go read some books and don't watch the b.s. Hollywood movies who make up history.

I'd say the Han. They were far more populous than Rome at their prime I think. Also the fact they were more advanced militarily
