Worldliness, is something I see in christians everyday. Christians are all to quick to spend their money on worldly entertainment, cloths, expensive vacations, the latest of everything. But I know how cheap they can be when it comes to tipping a good waitress, or giving a poor old homeless guy a little money. I know, I have been around the christian commuity as an ordained Minister for some time now. I am fifty seven years old, and I started the church thing when I was a six years old, thats over fifty years of experience.

Don't get me wrong, there are some christians that are walking with the Lord. God fearing men and women whom I admire and respect for their true christian lives. But I am sorry to say, they are the minority.

It would do us as christians, a great deal of good to read the sermons of some of the great preachers of the Great Awakening. Spurgen, whitfield, and such, these men of God spoke right out of the Holy Bible, without moving to the left or the right.

Amen

Yes, the love of money leaves worldly people.

Like the bible says, "It's easier for a camel to go through an eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven."

In the next life,
The rich in money will get punished, and the rich in the Spirit will get rewarded.

God Bless.

I am very aware and have read many sermons from the reformers til now. Not to mentions sermons from the great saints of old as well, i.e., St. Francis of Assisi, St. Augustine, St. Lawrence etc. you bring up a valid and important issue. Secularism or worldliness is indeed a big part of Christianity, especially here in America. The more we hold on to the things of the world the more we're prone to sin. Our attention is directed toward something other then God and it allows our soul to wonder.

Like Scripture says, it's the love of money that is the root of all evil. Well, I take it a little further. The love of the things of the world is the root of all evil. Money in and of itself is not a bad thing. Only when it takes the place of God does it become wrong. Same holds true with the things of the world. They're not necessarily bad, in fact some of the things are necessities in life, but people take it too far. They hold on to material objects harder then holding on the God.

Poverty is a virtue. And it's also a gift. It's not for everyone. The less we have the fewer problems arise.

Yes, this is very true. The world is not a place that a Christian should feel comfortable in. I can't say that I am perfect because I am not, but I do try to separate myself from the lust of this world to do God's work and live as the Spirit guides me. I must do better however.

This reminds me of something I thought of a few months ago. What if:
Instead of going to church every Sunday, Christians go to work for an hour. Then, with the money they earned, they donate it to the poor. I think that would be a much better use of time. If there is a god, I'm sure he can look after himself. It would be very selfish of him if he wanted us to spend so much time and money on worshiping him instead of fixing the problems in our society today.

We should try to separate ourselves from the world. What I mean by this is, we should not entangle ourselves into things that would remove our focus from the LORD.

GOD bless
